Hobart Hurricanes are favorites to win
An upbeat Hobart Hurricanes will be aiming for their fifth successive win of the season when they take on a resurgent Sydney Sixers in this 19th game of the Big Bash League 2018-19. The match will be played on January 4 at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Live telecast is scheduled to begin at 7:15 PM local time.
TV channels: Sony Six, Sony ESPN, BT Sport, Fox Sports, SuperSport, Seven Network
Live Streaming: Bet365, SonyLIV, Foxtel Sports, SuperSport Live
The wicket at the Bellerive Oval has generally been good for batting and it tends to become even better during the second period of play. And also since both the matches played at this ground so far this season have been won by the side batting second, the team that wins the 'bat-flip' here on Friday will probably prefer to chase.

Hobart Hurricanes have announced an unchanged squad of 13 for this match against Sydney Sixers. The current group of eleven has helped the team win their first four matches of the season and we don't think they will have any kind of hesitation in going in with the same line-up again. Jake Doran and David Moody are the only two players in the side who have not had a game so far and they will probably have to wait a little longer for their chance.
The opening pair of D'Arcy Short and Matthew Wade hold's the key for Hobart Hurricanes when it comes to batting. Both have hit two half-centuries each and are currently featuring amongst the top five batsmen of the season. While the onus will be on them to take the team off to a blazing start, Alex Doolan who scored an unbeaten 41 in the last game against Perth Scorchers will be crucial at the number three position. Jofra Archer, James Faulkner and Riley Meredith form a potent pace attack and the Hurricanes will be relying heavily on them to do the job with the ball. Faulkner has taken the most wickets for the team so far - seven from four matches - while Archer and Meredith both have six each. Meredith is coming off a three-wicket haul and he will be expected to provide good support to Archer and Faulkner against Sydney Sixers.
Hobart Hurricanes could not have asked for a better start to their BBL 08 campaign. They are currently sitting very comfortably at the top of the league standings with four wins from four games and are the only team left who are yet to face defeat this season. The Hurricanes had opened their account on the points table with a 15-run win over Brisbane Heat and then beat Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder before securing a six-wicket win over Perth Scorchers in their last match.

Following two wins on the bounce, Sydney Sixers have named an unchanged 13-man squad for this upcoming encounter against Hobart Hurricanes. In the last game against Brisbane Heat, opening batsman Jack Edwards was replaced by debutant Justin Avendano. The latter put up a good batting performance and is likely to be retained in the side. There are no injury concerns for the Sixers at the moment and we expect them to go into this match with an unchanged line-up.
Moises Henriques cracked his first half-century of the Big Bash League 2018-19 and powered his team to victory in the last game against Brisbane Heat. While the skipper is going to be the key batsman for Sydney Sixers at the top, Daniel Hughes and Jordan Silk will be the vital cogs in the middle order. Silk is currently the third-highest run-getter in the tournament and he made a significant 25-ball 46 last time. Tom Curran, Steve O'Keefe and Sean Abbott are the ones to watch out for in this bowling group. O'Keefe is topping the wickets charts with ten wickets in five matches followed by Curran who has nine. The latter was the pick of the bowlers against the Heat with impressive figures of 3-25 from four overs and the pacer will look to put on another good show with the ball against the Hurricanes.
Sydney Sixers have won three and lost two out of the five matches they have played so far in this year's Big Bash League and find themselves third in the league standings with six points. After winning the tournament opener against Perth Scorchers by 17 runs, they lost to Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars in back-to-back encounters. The Sixers have then bounced back with consecutive victories over Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat in their last two matches.

This will be a clash of two teams that are going through good form at the moment. While Hobart Hurricanes have not really been challenged thus far this BBL, Sydney Sixers seem to be peaking following their two consecutive defeats. The former will be playing at home and they have made this ground their fortress. They have won each of their last five matches played here which is something that will definitely give them a huge psychological boost. The Sixers have an excellent bowling attack with Steve O'Keefe and Tom Curran hitting top form and they would know that they have beaten their opponents twice at this venue in the past. However, the Hurricanes are a slightly better balanced outfit and also have a lot of momentum with them which is why we expect them to keep their unbeaten run intact.
Final Verdict: Back Hobart Hurricanes to beat Sydney Sixers at 1.57 with Betway, 1.60 with Bet365 and 1.67 with Betfair.
