Gulf Giants will take on Desert Vipers at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Qualifier 1 of the 2022-23 ILT20 gets underway at 18:00 local time on Wednesday 8th February.

Gulf Giants’ bowlers dismissed the entire Sharjah Warriors XI inside 18.3 overs on Monday. There will be plenty of confidence in the attack and in David Wiese they have the top wicket taker in the tournament with 15 wickets from eight games.

Gulf Giants have lost only one match across the entire tournament but are unbeaten in their last five games.

Desert Vipers

The Vipers enjoyed a strong group stage but were beaten in their final match, by 25 runs against Gulf Giants, a result which saw them surrender top spot on net-run-rate. After losing twice to the Giants in the first stage, they will hope that they play-offs will provide them with the right conditions to beat them.

VIP Team Batting

Rohan Mutafa, Alex Hales and Sam Billings all hit scores in the 20s against Gulf Giants but the Vipers needed one of them to go much bigger to chase down the target of 181 on Saturday. In spite of not scoring a half-century from his last five innings, Hales has still scored 128 runs more than anyone else in the tournament.

VIP Team Bowling

Rohan Mustafa and Shiraz Ahmed were the only bowlers to not pick up a wicket in their last game but they do have a well varied bowling attack. Left-arm wrist spinner Jake Lintott made his first appearance and got the wicket of Gerhard Erasmus and Sheldon Cottrell always looks like a wicket taking threat.

Desert Vipers have lost two of their last four and three of their last seven games in the tournament.
