Kent are favorites to win
Glamorgan will take on Kent at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. This T20 match gets underway at 18:30 local time on Friday 2nd June.
It has been a good start in this year’s T20 Blast for Glamorgan who have won two out of three of their matches so far. They began the campaign with a 2 wicket win over Gloucestershire before being beaten by Somerset. However, they responded well and beat Middlesex by 29 runs in a high scoring game on Wednesday.
In spite of only 6 runs at the top of the order for Sam Northeast and 16 runs from captain Kiran Carlson at number three, Glamorgan still posted 238-3 against Middlesex. Colin Ingram hit 92 not out from 51 balls but that was overshadowed by Chris Cooke’s incredible 113 not out from 41 balls.
There were two wickets each for Australian spinner Pete Hatzoglou and English left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya in the win over Middlesex with Jamie Mcllroy also chipping in with a wicket. Mcllroy has picked up at least one wicket in each match and has five in the tournament already.
Glamorgan have been competitive in all three games and have won two already. They will fancy their chances against Kent in this match.
After a very disappointing campaign in 2022, hopes were high that Kent would be a strong T20 side once more this year when they beat Gloucestershire by 7 wickets in their opening game. However, they have since lost to Surrey and Somerset.
Although we have not seen the batting line-up all produce a strong performance at the same time, there are plenty of experienced T20 batters in the Kent side. Daniel Bell-Drummond, Joe Dely, Sam Billings and Jordan Cox are all capable of producing a match-winning innings in this game.
Tall Australian pace bowler Michael Hogan maintained his impressive T20 record in the UK with figures of 3-33 in the defeat to Somerset. His countryman, Wes Agar, who bowled so well in the early games of this year’s BBL, took 3-18 in his first Blast appearance of the season.
Kent have lost two games in a row but they have been against two of the best teams in the South Group. They have shown plenty of good moments already in the tournament.
This Vitality T20 Blast game will be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. There is assistance for the pace and seam bowlers but also consistent bounce for the batters to take advantage of.

Although Glamorgan come into this match two points and two places above Kent, we fancy the Spitfires to come out on top of this game in South Wales. Both sides have strong batting line-ups but we think that Kent have the stronger bowling attack. We are backing Kent to win.
