Essex Eagles got their second successive win of the tournament with an 11 run victory over Sussex Sharks on Friday evening. The victory saw the Eagles stay in third place in the table with each of the top four sides in the South Group also winning. Australian Daniel Sams smashed 71 runs from 24 balls against the Sharks as the Eagles posted 244-7 from 20 overs. Defending their big total was tough but excellent work from the bowling attack saw them home. Only Sam Cook did not take a wicket from six bowlers used by Essex Eagles.
Somerset are one place and one point above Essex Eagles in the South Group and they had a tight 7 run victory over local rivals Gloucestershire on Friday evening. Rilee Roussow hit his fourth half-century of the competition before falling for 54 from 35 balls but it was all-roudner Lewis Gregory who top scored with 60 not out from 36 balls. Defending a target of 185, there were wickets for all six Somerset bowlers. Australian Peter Siddle was the most penetrating and finished with 3-30.
