ES vs SA-U19 T20 Match Prediction & Betting Tips, CSA Provincial T20 Cup 2022

Eastern Storm will take on South Africa U-19s at the City Oval, Pietermaritzburg. Match 1 in Pool A of the CSA Provisional T20 Cup 2022/23 begins at 09:30 local time on Friday 30th September.

Eastern Storm

Eastern Storm won only one game last year in Pool C and did not qualify for the quarter-finals. As a result, they will not have a huge amount of pressure on the team but will be expecting to finish in the top two of Pool A. They have a talented group of players who have the ability to improve on last year’s campaign. 

ES Batting

Storm have one batter who stands out from their squad list. 27 year old Danie Rossouw has an excellent record across all T20 competitions but particularly in this one. He had a top score of 66 not out last season against South Africa U-19s last year. 

ES Bowling

With the ball, off-spinner Tumelo Simelane will get plenty of bounce on this pitch and if he can get the ball to turn as well then he could be very hard to face. Right arm medium pace bowler Matthew Arnold has 34 wickets in this format at an average of 21.94.

ES Form

Eastern Storm won their opening game of last season but went on to lose their next two matches against Dolphins and North West.

South Africa U19

This can be an excellent tournament for emerging players for South Africa U-19s as proven by Dewald Brevis in the 2021 competition. He hit 46 runs from 25 balls in the opening game against Eastern Storm last year but has since impressed in both the IPL and the CPL.

SA-U19 Batting

19 year old George Van Heerden captained the side in the 2022 U-19 World Cup in the Caribbean in January. Although he finished that tournament with three successive single figure scores, he also hit 61 not out against West Indies U-19s and 111 against Ireland U-19s.

SA-U19 Bowling

18 year old left-arm spinner Liam Alder will be looking forward to bowling on this surface. He took wickets in all bar one of the World Cup fixtures at the start of the year and was South Africa’s top wicket taker in two games. Fast bowler, Matthew Boast, is a strike bowler who will concede runs but also take wickets.

SA-U19 Form

As with any U-19 side, the team is constantly in transition. However, there is plenty of confidence in the squad after they reached the quarter finals of the World Cup earlier this year.
