Will Yorkshire Surpass Durham to Make the Finals Day?
Durham beat Gloucestershire while Yorkshire knocked out Glamorgan in the third and the fourth quarter-finals respectively. The two teams will now lock horns in the second semi-final of the Natwest T20 Blast 2016 on August 20 at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. This has been the first ever appearance in the knockout stage for both these teams who will look to give their all to make it to the finals day. The second semi-final is set to begin at 11 AM local time.

Venue and Toss
The first-innings scores of the five group games that saw the complete 20 overs read (with the most recent first): 172, 186, 144, 154 and 155. As is evident from these scores, the wicket at Edgbaston has been more than decent to bat on and we could have another high-scoring game here. The 154, 155 and 172 got chased down while 186 proved to be enough. It's true that no score is safe on a flat batting surface, but still 180 should be good considering the pressure a knockout game tends to produce.
Four of the six matches this year have been won by the team that has batted second and the toss-winning team have emerged victors on four occasions. So toss gains importance here and whoever wins it might prefer to chase.
Durham might benefit from having played a full game here in contrast to Yorkshire who's only group match against Warwickshire was washed out. So the former's chances of a win should increase upon winning the toss.

If Durham Bat First
Predicted Score: Around 150
Keaton Jennings has been promoted to the opening slot since Phil Mustard's departure from the side and he made a decent 36 in the final group game. His partner Mark Stoneman, however, is going to be the key asset in their batting lineup. Stoneman has hit back-to-back fifties and seems more likely to top-score come Saturday's crunch game. Durham, to reach 150, will need the big innings to come from their openers and skipper Collingwood to do well in the middle-order.
Yorkshire's pace attack will be lead by Tim Bresnan, Liam Plunkett and David Willey. Bresnan is in top form and is currently the tournament's third-highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets to his tally. Rashid and Rafiq have also been impressive with their leg-spin and off-spin respectively. Rashid took a four-for in the last match and looks sharper of the two. Yorkshire will be backing Bresnan and Rashid to pick up wickets and restrict Durham below 150.

If Yorkshire Bat First
Predicted Score: Around 160
10 is Adam Lyth's highest score in his last three innings and this could put additional pressure on Willey and Lees to perform at the top. Both have good knocks this year though and Yorkshire will want them to keep up their good work with the bat. Jack Leaning has contributed thrice in the last four matches while Bresnan has done a fairly good job as a finisher. If Willey, Lees and Leaning bat well, Yorkshire should be able to get to 160.
Chris Rushworth is going to be Durham's best bet with the ball to strike early and push Yorkshire on the back foot at the start of their innings. The pacer took two wickets each in the last couple of matches and has taken five wickets against Yorkshire this season. Leg-spinner Scott Borthwick with 17 wickets is among the tournament's top 10 bowlers and he is expected to pick up a few wickets as well. Durham will want these two to be on top of their game if they are to stop Yorkshire from reaching the predicted score.
Durham vs Yorkshire Head-to-Head
The two teams have played a total of six Natwest T20 Blast matches against each other since 2014, with both winning three times each. Their first group-stage match in 2014 was won by Durham while Yorkshire has a win in their most recent face-off this year.
Our Prediction
Durham and Yorkshire have never faced each other at the Edgbaston before and neither of them has ever won a match at this ground. Durham have played two games here with defeats in both of them while Yorkshire lost their only match at the venue last year. The latter, however, are on a winning streak this year with four successive victories in comparison to the former who won their last two matches. Overall, Yorkshire have been slightly better in the tournament with 18 wins from 36 matches - a win percentage of 50. Durham, on the other hand, have a win percentage of around 43 with 16 wins from 37 matches.
The two teams are evenly matched and there is very little to choose between them. Though both have been neck-and-neck this year, we feel that Yorkshire Vikings are better placed to win this second semi-final and make the finals day.
