Sarel Erwee hit a half-century in the win against Knights last time out as Dolphins overcame the loss of the their two highest run-scorers in this year’s competition – Andile Phehlukwayo and David Miller – to international duty.
Dane Vilas has 193 runs from five matches, including two half-centuries, and is third on the run-scoring list – just three behind Miller, albeit from an extra game. When these teams last met, meanwhile, it was Khaya Zondo who top-scored with 93 from 115 balls. Last time they played at City Oval, meanwhile, it was Vaughn van Jaarsveld who led the way with a blistering 124 from 102 balls.
Robbie Frylinck’s return will help to compensate for the loss of Phehlukwayo, meanwhile – the all-rounder was in stunning form during the Bangladesh Premier League and, as well as his bowling at the death, he can also score big runs down the order. He is their leading wicket-taker so far with nine from just three games – including 3-42 from ten overs last time out.

Dolphins started the 2019 Momentum One Day Cup with three straight wins, including scoring 342 in a 19-run win in their only previous match at City Oval as they beat Highveld Lions.
The winning streak was ended by the Warriors, however, when Dolphins were 244 all out and lost by eight wickets as the Warriors eased to a rain-altered target of 152.
Last time out, however, Dolphins bounced back. They restricted Knights to 254/9, with Robbie Frylinck claiming 3-42, and were 139/3 after 27 overs when the rain came – 21 above the DLS par score – thanks to Serel Erwee’s half-century.

JP Duminy will continue to captain the team as he prepares for his return to the South African squad ahead – he will rejoin the national team for the final two games of their series against Sri Lanka after an injury-hit season. Hashim Amla and Dane Paterson are also absent from the South Africa squad – Paterson has been dropped, and so remains available for Cape Cobras but Amla is being rested; he featured against Titans but not against Lions last time out. Amla, David Bedingham and Tladi Bokoka were replaced by Pieter Malan, Kyle Verreynne and Mthiwekhaya Nabe as Cape Cobras got back to winning ways.

Akhona Mnyaka came of age as Cape Cobras beat Lions last time out, claiming three wickets in the final over to finish 3-49 and seal a three-run win.
The teenage paceman’s final over crowned a good all-round performance, in which Pieter Malan also marked his return to the team with a century and JP Duminy proved his fitness with 62.
Kyle Verreynne is their top run-scorer, with one century and two half-centuries – including one against Dolphins – on his way to 274 runs so far. Malan, Zubayr Hamza (209) and George Linde (201) have also passed 200 runs so far.
Dane Paterson took two more wickets last time out, meanwhile. His exclusion from the South Africa ODI squad has been the Cobras’ gain ad he now has ten wickets from six games. Mnyaka now has nine from five, while Linde is on seven and has an economy rate of 4.40 runs per over.

Cape Cobras lost two of their first three matches, including their previous game against Dolphins, but have claimed two wins from three since.
They got back to winning ways after losing to the Dolphins as Zubayr Hamza top-scored in a 21-run defeat of Lions, but they were all out for 237 to lose to Titans by 83 runs in their following game.
Last time out, however, they claimed another win against Lions as Pieter Malan scored 102 from 127 balls in a total of 281/9. Akhona Mnyaka had to defend seven from the last over in reply, but he picked up three wickets to seal a stunning three-run win.
