Dhaka Dynamites Team News & Playing 11

DD Team News

Dhaka Dynamites made three changes as they looked to arrest their slide down the table last time out, but Mizanur Rahman, Andrew Birch and Mahmudul Hasan could not prevent a fourth straight defeat. Birch’s call-up meant no place for Hazratullah Zazai at the top of the order, with the Afghani batsman unable to replicate the form he showed at the start of this tournament in more recent matches.

DD Key Players

Shakib Al Hasan returns to his favourite bowling ground, having taken seven wickets in Dhaka’s last two games at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. He has 17 wickets in total so far, while his batting has also been key for the Dynamites – he has hit 267 runs, including two half-centuries. One of those half-centuries was in the defeat to Chittagong last time out. Also starring with bat and ball has been Andre Russell, who took a hat-trick in the final over of Chittagong’s innings last time out and then hit 39 from 23 balls with the bat. It evoked memories of his hat-trick and hundred at the start of the Caribbean Premier League in August for Jamaica Tallawahs. More recently, Russell has seven wickets in his last three matches and has scored 99 runs in that time too.

Elsewhere, Rony Talukdar has hit two half-centuries so far – most recently against the Rangpur Riders – while Sunil Narine has hit 177 runs at the top of the order and taken 11 wickets.

Kieron Pollard gave a reminder of his ability in the defeat to Rangpur, meanwhile, with 37 from 23 balls with the bat.

DD Team Form

Dhaka Dynamites have not won since Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets and then hit an unbeaten 61 in a comfortable six-wicket win against Sylhet Sixers – the Dynamites chasing 163 to win in 17 overs.

Since then, they have lost four matches in a row. The first of those saw them post a below par 139/9 against Chittagong Vikings and Shakib’s 4-16 from four overs was not quite enough to defend it, as the Vikings won with three sixes in the final over.

Shakib took three more wickets when they last played Comilla Victorians, but the Dynamites finished on 146/9 in reply to 153/8, and a third defeat followed when they failed to defend 186/6 against an AB de Villiers-inspired Rangpur Riders.

Most recently, Dhaka were set 175 to beat Chittagong, after Andre Russell’s hat-trick in the final over, but they could only reach 163/9.

Comilla Victorians Team News & Playing 11

COM Team News

Comilla have kept changes to a minimum lately and that continued against Chittagong Vikings last time out – Abu Hider the only player to come in, replacing Mohammad Shahid from the win against Khulna Titans. Evin Lewis did not bat last time out, having returned from a hamstring injury to score a century before that, but that may have just been precautionary with such a low target to chase and no need to risk his injury.

COM Key Players

Shahid Afridi claimed 2-18 from four overs when these teams last met and he now has 15 wickets for the tournament after taking 2-10 against Chittagong Vikings. Having also scored a handy 123 runs with the bat, the Pakistani veteran remains a key all-rounder in the shortest format.

His countryman Wahab Riaz has made a big impact since arriving, meanwhile. He has played six matches and claimed 11 wickets in those games – including 3-14 against Khulna Titans and 2-23 most recently. Mohammad Saifuddin has 13 for the season, meanwhile – closing in on the 16 he took in 2017.Batting-wise, Evin Lewis returned from injury with an unbeaten 109 from 49 balls in the win against Khulna Titans – taking him to three T20 centuries – and his opening partner Tamim Iqbal has also reclaimed some form. He has now hit 73, 25, 34, 25 and 54* in his last five innings to move to 271 for the tournament so far.

In six innings, Shamsur Rahman has hit 162 runs, meanwhile. He scored 36 from 22 balls last time out, sharing a handy second-wicket partnership with Tamim.

COM Team Form

Comilla Victorians have won five of their last six games to charge up the points table. Since bowling Sylhet Sixers out for 68 in their fifth match of the tournament – Mahedi Hasan taking 4-22 – they have barely looked back.Tamim Iqbal found his batting form with 73 from 42 balls against Khulna Titans, as the Victorians chased 182 to win by three wickets in the final over and , though they were all out for 138 in a 38-run loss to Rajshahi Kings next up, they have not lost since.

Dhaka Dynamites were downed when these teams last met – Shamsur Rahman scored 48 from 35 balls in a total of 153/8, and economical (and wicket-taking) bowling from Thisara Perera (3-14) and Shahid Afridi (2-18) led them to a tense seven-run win.

Evin Lewis then smashed an unbeaten century in a total of 237/5 against Khulna Titans, as Comilla claimed an 80-run win, and the winning streak continued as they restricted Chittagong Vikings to 116/8 last time out. In reply, Tamim’s unbeaten half-century saw the Victorians ease to a seven-wicket win with 3.2 overs remaining.
