Alex Hales has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament which is a huge blow to the Rangur Riders given the Englishman’s fine form with the bat. They still have Chris Gayle, Rilee Rossouw and AB de Villiers in that in-form top order, however, and must decide now whether to add Ravi Bopara to it or Benny Howell. Shafiul Islam’s injury could mean Abul Hasan returns, or it may mean a first appearance for Sheldon Cottrell as an alternative to Bopara and Howell.

Rangpur boast some of the best batsman in the tournament, even with in-form Alex Hales now set to miss the final few games. Rilee Rossouw has hit five half-centuries and one unbeaten hundred so far, and sits top of the run-scoring charts with 514 runs in 11 innings.

AB de Villiers has also hit an unbeaten century on his way to 213 runs in just five innings, with a stunning strike rate of 170.40. This was the time of the tournament Chris Gayle came to life as he fired the Riders to victory in 2017, meanwhile. He has hit one half-century so far but is yet to show the explosive form he did in the play-offs last time out.

That batting has been backed by the bowlers too, with Mashrafe Mortaza and Farhad Reza both claiming 17 wickets each so far. Mortaza took 4-11 when the two teams last met and has an economy rate of 6.83. Reza, meanwhile, has taken 11 wickets in the last four games.

Rangpur Riders go into their final group game on the back of five straight wins. The three-game losing streak that preceded this run of form is now firmly in the past. AB de Villiers’ arrival for those five games has been one key factor, as he, Rilee Rossouw and Alex Hales helped the Riders chase 195 to beat Sylhet Sixers by four wickets to start their wining streak.

Chis Gayle (55), Hales (55) and De Villiers (41) then powered a chase of 182 to beat Khulna Titans by six wickets, before Hales and Rossouw smashed centuries in a total of 239/4 against Chittagong Vikings, who were restricted to 167/8 in reply.

De Villiers followed suit against Dhaka Dynamites, scoring an unbeaten 100 of his own from 50 balls, as the Riders successfully reached 189/2 to win by eight wickets with ten balls remaining.

It was a lower chase last time out, against Rajshahi Kings, but Rilee Rossouw hit 55 from 43 balls in a six-wicket win. The Kings had earlier posted 141/8 from their 20 overs.
