Chittagong Vikings Team News & Playing 11

CHV Team News

As ever, Chittagong Vikings have kept changes to a minimum. Last time out, Najbullah Zadran replaced Dasun Shanaka in the batting line-up in the only change from the win against Dhaka. His handy 23 from 19 balls should be enough to retain his place.

CHV Key Players

Mushfiqur Rahim hit his third half-century of BPL 2019, finishing unbeaten on 64 from 46 balls in the six-wicket win last time out. He now has 277 runs from seven innings and sat second in the run-scoring charts at the end of the third phase of fixtures.

Rahim was the match-winner last time out, but Robbie Frylinck stole the show when these teams last met, in the opening game of the tournament. The South African all-rounder took 4-14 from his four overs to bowl the Riders out for 98 and then hit the winning runs off the first ball of the final over.

His performances then got better and better – he now has 12 wickets in total, while his late hitting has been key. He top-scored with an unbeaten 44 against Sylhet Sixers, then hit two sixes in the final over against Khulna Titans as the game was tied – Frylinck batting and bowling in the successful Super Over. He then hit the winning six with two balls to spare against Comilla Victorians and his unbeaten 25 against Dhaka Dynamites included three sixes in the final over in another last-over win.At the top of the order, meanwhile, are Mohammad Shahzad and Cameron Delport. Shahzad has made some useful starts without yet passing 50, while Delport impressed with bat and ball – he took 3-25 in the win against Dhaka Dynamites before scoring 30 from 12 balls.

Khaled Ahmed now has 11 wickets in the tournament after his 2-30 last time out, meanwhile, and Abu Jayed claimed his tenth wicket in the win against Rangpur Riders too.

CHV Team Form

Chittagong Vikings have won their last five in a row (four if you discount the tie and Super Over success against Khulna Titans that started this run). Since Robbie Frylinck’s heroics in the final over and the Super Over of that game, the Vikings have claimed some thrilling wins.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s 75 from 41 balls powered the pursuit of 185 to beat Comilla Victorians, before Frylinck’s six with two balls to spare sealed a four-wicket win, before another Rahim half-century and Yasir Ali’s 54 helped the Vikings set 214/4 in a 26-run defeat of Sylhet Sixers.Against rivals for first place Dhaka Dynamites, Cameron Delport (3-25), Frylinck (2-19) and Abu Jayed (2-26) restricted the opposition to just 139/9. Slow scoring in the middle overs looked like it would cost the Vikings, however, until Frylinck smashed 25 from ten balls – including three sixes in the final over – to claim a three-wicket win with one ball to spare.

Last time out, the Vikings claimed another last-over win. Rahim scored an unbeaten 64 from 46 balls and Mosaddek Hossain backed him with 43 from 26 in a six-wicket win, with two balls remaining.

Chittagong Vikings Predicted Playing 11

Mohammad Shahzad, Cameron Delport, Yasir Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim, Najbullah Zadran, Mosaddek Hossain, Robbie Frylinck, Nayeem Hasan, Sunzamul Islam, Abu Jayed, Khaled Ahmed

Rangpur Riders Team News & Playing 11

RGR Team News

Rangpur Riders played just once in the third phase of fixtures, in Dhaka, and stuck with the same line-up that gave them victory in their final game in Sylhet. That means an explosive batting line-up with all four of Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw and AB de Villiers selected and no place for English spinner Benny Howell. The selection leaves their bowling attack a little light, but they have proved that with such batting power they can afford to leave themselves big targets to chase – winning their two games with this line-up.

RGR Key Players

Rangpur Riders boast a Fantasy League-like batting order, with some of the game’s biggest hitters in their line-up. Chris Gayle opens the batting, having been instrumental in their title win with his two centuries in the play-offs and final last season, and he hit five sixes in his 40-ball 55 last time out.

Alex Hales also hit a half-century last time out, following up his 33 from 24 balls – a marked improvement on his earlier performances and much more like the batsman that was smashing ODI record in the English summer.

AB de Villiers has played the last two games, meanwhile, and made an immediate impression – he hit 34 from 21 balls in his first game and followed that with 41 from 25 balls last time.

Fellow South African Rilee Rossouw is the top run-scorer in this year’s competition, meanwhile. He hit the winning runs last time out and has 359 runs in total, including four half-centuries.
Their strength is not just reserved to their batting either. Mashrafe Mortaza has taken 13 wickets including 1-17 from his four overs last time out. Farhad Reza moved to ten, meanwhile, as he bagged 4-32.

RGR Team Form

After a three-match losing streak, Rangpur Riders welcomed AB de Villiers into their line-up and set up this current big-hitting bonanza in the batting order. And the gamble has paid off in style with two wins.
Their most recent loss saw them finish 27 runs short of Sylhet Sixers’ 187/5 despite Rilee Rossouw’s 32-ball 58, but they avenged that defeat when the two teams met against three days later.

Rossouw top-scored again, with 61 from 35 balls, as the Riders chased 195 to win by four wickets with three balls to spare – Alex Hales and AB de Villiers having shared decent partnerships with him.

Last time out, Chris Gayle (55 from 40 balls) and Alex Hales (55 from 29 balls) put on 78 for the first wicket and AB de Villiers motored along with 41 from 25 balls before Rossouw’s final-over six earned a six-wicket win over Khulna Titans with three balls to spare, having been set 182 to win.

Rangpur Riders Predicted Playing 11

Rilee Rossouw, Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, AB de Villiers, Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Mashrafe Mortaza, Nahidul Islam, Farhad Reza, Nazmul Islam, Sohag Gazi
