Chittagong Vikings Team News & Playing 11

Chittagong Team News

With star man Robbie Frylinck out injured since the match against Rangpur Riders, Chittagong Vikings gave Hardus Viljoen a rare start as one of their overseas players in their most recent league game, against Sylhet Sixers. Mohammad Shahzad made way, with Mohammad Ashraful back at the top of the order. The Bangladeshi icon made a two-ball duck, however, and is unlikely to feature in the play-offs. Vijoen's four-wicket haul may earn him another game, however - perhaps in place of Dasun Shanaka.

Chittagong Key Players

Mushfiqur Rahim, the BPL's all-time leading run-scorer, moved to 418 runs in 12 innings this season when he hit 48 from 32 balls in Chittagong's final league game. He has 91 runs in his last two games, including 43 in the win against the Dynamites.

Cameron Delport top-scored in that game, with 71 on his return to the top of the order, and he will partner Mohammad Shahzad, who has 270 runs so far despite missing their final league game. Yasir Ali now has 299 runs, meanwhile, from ten innings.

Robbie Frylinck was the early-season star with bat and ball but, in his absence, Abu Jayed has led the bowling attack with 18 wickets and Khaled Ahmed has 14. Hardus Viljoen may feature in the eliminator, having taken 4-29 from his four overs last time out.

Chittagong Team Form

Chittagong Vikings' win against Dhaka Dynamites when these teams last met was their only win in their final five league games.

They were top of the league when their form originally dipped, conceding 239 against Rangpur Riders and only reaching 167/8 in reply. They were expensive against Rajshahi Kings too, and in pursuit of 198/5 only got as far as 191/8 - despite Yasir Ali's second consecutive half-century.

It was the batsmen who struggled next up, restricted to just 116/8 against Comilla Victorians on their way to a seven-wicket defeat, but they bounced back against Dhaka. Cameron Delport top-scored with 71 from 57 balls in a total of 174/5 and Abu Jayed took 3-25 as the Dynamited finished 11 runs short.

Last time out, however, replying to Sylhet Sixers' 165/5 - of which Hardus Viljoen took 4-29 - the Vikings were all out for 136 despite Mushfiqur Rahim's 32-ball 48.

Chittagong Vikings Predicted Playing 11

Mohammad Shahzad, Cameron Delport, Yasir Ali, Sikandar Raza, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mosaddek Hossain, Shadman Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Hardus Viljoen, Abu Jayed, Khaled Ahmed

Dhaka Dynamites Team News & Playing 11

Dhaka Team News

Upal Tharanga has replaced Hazratullah Zazai in the Dynamites' squad and has opened the batting in the last two games. Sunil Narine returned to the top of the order alongside him last time out, with the other two overseas players Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell. Qazi Onik came into the bowling attack and it could be a similar team that faces Chittagong in this play-off.

Dhaka Key Players

Captain Shakib Al Hasan took two more wickets last time out and now has 21 in the tournament so far - the second highest wicket-taker in the league phase. He has also hit 275 runs, making him both the Dynamites' leading run scorer and leading wicket-taker.

He has been backed by all-round performances from Andre Russell and Sunil Narine too, with the latter hitting 35 from 13 balls last time out to move to 234 runs, having earlier taken his 14th wicket. Russell, meanwhile, conceded just 14 runs from his four overs last time out, while he took a hat-trick last time he faced Dhaka. Russell also has 129 runs in his last four innings.

Dhaka Team Form

Dhaka Dynamites almost dropped out of play-off contention despite being the early pace-setters in this season's tournament, but stopped a run of five straight defeats with a crucial win last time out. They restricted Khulna Titans to 123/9, and reached their target for the loss of four wickets in just 14.5 overs.

Their bad run had started against the Chittagong Vikings, when - despite Shakib Al Hasan starring with bat and ball - they lost in the final over defending 139/9. Shakib took 4-16 in that game and 3-24 in the next, against Comilla Victorians, but Dhaka finished seven runs short of Comilla's 153/8.

They lost despite posting 186/6 against Rangpur Riders next up, and then suffered a second defeat to the Vikings. Andre Russell took a hat-trick as Chittagong posted 174/5, and Shakib's half-century was not quite enough as they finished 11 runs short.

They should have beaten Comilla Victorians in their penultimate league match, after bowling them out for just 127 - Rubel Hossain taking 4-30 - but they got tied down in the middle overs and finished on 126/9.

Just in time, however, needing a win to reach the play-offs, they bounced back to winning ways against the Titans to finish fourth.

Dhaka Dynamites Predicted Playing 11

Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rony Talukdar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mizanur Rahman, Kieron Pollard, Shuvaguta Hom, Nurul Hasan, Andrew Birch, Rubel Hossain, Mohor Sheikh

Chittagong Vikings vs Dhaka Dynamites Head to Head

Chittagong Vikings beat Dhaka Dynamites twice in the group stage, having previously lost all five games they had played against the Dynamites. First up, Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with 34 and took 4-16 as Dhaka looked to defend 139/9, but Robbie Frylinck's last-over heroics saw Chittagong claim a three-wicket win with one ball to spare.

Next up, Cameron Delport smashed 71 from 57 balls for the Vikings in a total of 174/5 and, despite Shakib's half-century, the Dynamites finished short on 163/9. Andre Russell had earlier taken a hat-trick for Dhaka in the final over.

Chittagong Vikings vs Dhaka Dynamites Betting Odds

Both sides lost form at the business end of the league season - Chittagong missing Robbie Frylinck and the Dynamites just struggling. Dhaka have been made favourites for this eliminator, however, and are a best price of 1.83 to win with Betfair. Bet365 are offering 1.66 and Betway 1.67. The Vikings, by contrast, are 2.20 with Bet365.

Shakib Al Hasan and Andre Russell will be key for the Dynamites - and they are why they have been made favourites. Shakib is 1.83 to score more than 42.5 performance points with Bet365, while Russell is 1.83 to score more than 40.5.

Upal Tharanga's acquisition could also be key, and he is 4.00 to be the Dhaka Dynamites' top run scorer.

Mushfiqur Rahim is the key man for the Vikings, meanwhile, and is a good bet at 6.00 with Bet365 to be Chittagongs' top batsman.

🏆 Chittagong Vikings vs Dhaka Dynamites Prediction

Dhaka Dynamites got back to winning ways just in time and, if their all-rounders fire, they can give themselves a shot at a place in the final.

Final Verdict: Back Dhaka Dynamites to beat Chittagong Vikings at 1.83 with Betfair, 1.66 with Bet365 and 1.67 with Betway
