Barbados Royals are favourites to win
Barbados Royals will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in Match 8 of the Men’s 6ixty. The game will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre Muscat starting at 12:30 local time on Saturday 27th August.
Barbados Royals beat Trinbago Knight Riders by three wickets in their opening game but were then on the receiving end of a 41 run defeat by Jamaica Tallawahs. So far we have seen two very different performances, the Knight Riders were bowled out for 76 but the Tallawahs were able to post 162-3. Corbin Bosch has impressed with both bat and ball so far for the Royals, the 27 year old right arm medium fast South African has taken a wicket in both games and hit useful scores of 42 and 33. The Royals currently sit in third place in the table and it would take a large net-run-rate swing for them to miss out on finishing in the top four.
Guyana Amazon Warriors are one of four teams with two points on the board but due to their weak net-run-rate, they find themselves in fifth place. There is still a route to them finishing in the top four even if they lose this match, but realistically they need to win this game to guarantee their spot in the semi-finals. The Warriors beat Saint Lucia Kings by seven runs in their first match but were then defeated by Trinbago Knight Riders by 47 runs on Friday. Guyana were bowled out for 48 in their loss to Trinbago, the lowest score of the tournament so far.
The match will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre. This pitch offers something for the quick bowlers as well as the spinners. So far, we have seen only two games with both scores over 100.
