Team News
Bangladesh Women have named a 15-member squad for the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup 2018. Salma Khatun, with 36 T20 internationals appearances for Bangladesh, will be in charge of the group that also includes former captain and all-rounder Rumana Ahmed. Murshida Khatun, Suraya Azmim and Sobhana Mostary are the three players to have been dropped that were part of the team in their previous T20I series in South Africa. Bangladesh have also picked Lily Rani Biswas and batter Ayasha Rahman for this upcoming tournament.
Key Players
Rumana Ahmed is the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh Women in T20 internationals - 481 runs with a strike rate of around 80. Salma Khatun and Fargana Hoque too are amongst the team's top five batters in this format and they along with Rumana will hold the key to Bangladesh's batting. Fargana scored the most runs for her side in the recently concluded T20I series in South Africa and the team will want her to continue her good form in the Asia Cup as well. Salma Khatun and Rumana Ahmed will also play crucial roles with the ball and it will be mainly up to these two spinners to apply the pressure on Sri Lanka Women. While the former is the team's highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, the latter was their best bowler in the South Africa series.
Recent Form
Bangladesh Women have a dismal recent record in T20 internationals and they are coming into this tournament after having faced defeats in their past 14 matches straight. Their last win in this format of the game came against Ireland Women in the 2014 Women's World T20 at Sylhet. Bangladesh suffered a 0-3 whitewash on their recent tour of South Africa last month and they ended up losing each of those three games by quite a big margin.

Team News
Sri Lanka Women cricket team have been dealt a major blow with their regular skipper Chamari Athapaththu and bowling all-rounder Ama Kanchana both being ruled out of the entire tournament due to dengue. Harshitha Madavi and Inoka Ranaweera have been named as the respective replacements. Former captain Shashikala Siriwardane and Hasini Perera have been appointed stand-in skipper and vice-captain of the side respectively. Opening batter Yasoda Mendis, off-spinner Inoshi Priyadharshani and allrounder Malsha Shehani have also found a place in the squad while Imalka Mendis and Dilani Manodara are the ones to miss out.
Key Players
Sri Lanka Women will look to the likes of Shashikala Siriwardene, Anushka Sanjeewani, Nilakshi de Silva and Rebeca Vandort to score the big runs for them. Siriwardene has hit two half-centuries in T20 internationals and is currently the second-highest run-getter for her side in this format. Sanjeewani seems to be in good form at the moment and she had finished as the leading run-getter in the recent home T20I series against Pakistan. Shashikala Siriwardene has also taken the most wickets for Sri Lanka in the shortest format and she could have the Bangladeshi batters in trouble with her off-spin. Left-arm spinner Sugandika Kumari emerged as the best bowler in the Pakistan series with seven wickets in three matches and she too is another key player with the ball. Udeshika Prabodhani who has 35 T20I scalps under her belt will be Sri Lanka's go-to bowler when it comes to pace.
Recent Form
Sri Lanka Women have lost eight of their past ten T20 internationals. They played their last series against Pakistan at home in March and ended up conceding the series 1-2 to the visitors. After narrowly losing the opening game, the hosts fought back hard to secure a comfortable seven-wicket win in the second fixture before going down in the third and final game by 38 runs. In the series before that, Sri Lanka were clean swept 0-3 by the West Indies last year at Antigua.
