Bangladesh and Sri Lanka meet in the second and final Test of the series in Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The first Test ended in a draw with 26 wickets falling across the five days and three centurions, one Sri Lankan and two from Bangladesh, across the first innings of the match. Read on as we preview this game. The Second Test begins on Monday at 10:00 local time.
Bangladesh had the better of the First Test and, Angelo Mathews’ big score apart, looked the most likely of either team to win the game. They will be hoping for a more bowler friendly pitch to give them the best chance.
Sri Lanka began their new era under the stewardship of former England Coach Chris Silverwood with a draw. There were plenty of positives to take away from Chittagong and they will certainly be competitive again in this match.

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first in Chittagong. With spin likely to be prominent early in this game, first innings runs will be even more important and we expect both skippers to want to bat first.

Mominul Haque’s side are really struggling in the bowling department with Nayeem Hasan the latest to be ruled out of the rest of this series through injury. He joins Shorfiul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed on the sidelines as Bangladesh are stretched to the bare bone.
Bangladesh had their moments in the First Test but the pitch was not offering enough for their bowlers. With a bit more spice in this pitch they could well get the win.

With the home side suffering many injury problems, the visitors have all of their XI from Chittagong to select from in Dhaka. They seemed to improve as the Test progressed and we expect Chris Silverwood to select the same team ahead of this Test.

The bookies are favouring the home side ahead of the series decider in Dhaka. However, they are not completely ruling out Sri Lanka and are expecting a well fought Test.

For Bangladesh, our batting tips are Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mushfiqur Rahim. Hasan Joy has two half-centuries and a ton from his first five Tests.
For Sri Lanka, we are backing Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis with the bat. Mendis scored over 100 runs across both innings in Chittagong.
Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed are our bowling picks for Bangladesh. With the injuries to the bowling unit, the experience and guile of Shakib will be even more important.
Lasith Embuldeniya, Ramesh Mendis and Asitha Fernando are our bowling selections for Sri Lanka. Fernando picked up his wickets at the top, the middle and the bottom of the Sri Lankan batting innings.
All the indications are that this pitch will offer the bowlers a little bit more than what we saw in Chittagong and it is for that reason that we expect to see a win in this Test. Sri Lanka will be competitive and will have their chances but we are backing Bangladesh to win.
