This pitch will offer spin throughout the Test but there will be plenty of pace to work with for the quick bowlers as well. A par score in the first innings will be around 360-380.

It was a fine performance with both bat and ball from Bangladesh in the first Test of the series and they will be looking to complete a 2-0 whitewash in this game. All-rounder Shahadat Hossain made his Test debut in Sylhet after three previous T20I appearances.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto enjoyed his first game leading the Test side and became the first Bangladeshi to hit a century in his opening match as captain. Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz both come into this Test after hitting half-centuries in the last game.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam took the Player of the Match Award in the first Test after completing his second Test 10-wicket haul. New Zealand’s batters will be extremely wary of facing him in this game although the entire bowling unit were impressive in Sylhet.
Bangladesh have played three Tests in 2023 with wins by 7 wickets, 546 runs and 150 runs so far.

After coming into this series as favourites, the Black Caps will have been very disappointed by their showing in the opening Test. They have plenty of experience in their side but the conditions in Bangladesh seemed to be a struggle for many. No changes are expected ahead of this Test.
New Zealand will need to be better with the bat in this match after only Kane Williamson hit a century and Daryl Mitchell a fifty in the opening Test. Left-hander Devon Conway will be particularly keen to find some form after failing to make a half-century from his last ten innings.
Spinners Ajaz Patel and Glenn Phillips were the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand in the opening Test and we can expect the pair to be useful once again in Mirpur. Captain Tim Southee will bowl with accuracy once more and he will keep things tight in this Test also.
New Zealand had beaten England and Sri Lanka twice in their previous three Test matches before losing in Mirpur.
Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell (wk), Glenn Phillips, Kyle Jamieson, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee (c), Ajaz Patel
New Zealand have a reputation for being hard to beat in all formats so they will be desperate to bounce back in this Test. Bangladesh were without some of their more experienced names but showed they have plenty of strength in depth in Sylhet. Overall, we expect a closer contest and are backing New Zealand to win.
