BAN vs IND 1st Test Match Prediction & Betting Tips
Bangladesh will take on India at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The opening match of the Test series gets underway at 10:00 local time on Wednesday 14th December.
Bangladesh
Although this is a change in format from ODI to Tests, and Bangladesh were thrashed by 227 runs in the final ODI, the hosts will still be full of confidence after winning the series 2-1. This will be Bangladesh’s first Test Match since a 10 wicket defeat to West Indies in June. Shakib Al Hasan will captain the side.
BAN Batting
After leading his side during the ODI series win, Liton Das will be vice-captain in the Test series and one of Bangladesh’s most important batters. Nurul Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan will also have key roles with the bat in this opening Test.
BAN Bowling
Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets on this surface during the ODI on Saturday but his spin bowling will become more and more of a threat as this game progresses. Spinner Taijul Ismal took 7-116 in the first innings against Pakistan on this pitch last year and we expect him to cause problems to even the best Indian batters.

Bangladesh have struggled in Tests with their last victory in this format coming seven games ago at the start of 2022.
India
There have been injury problems for India in the run up to this opening Test with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja ruled out and Mohammed Shami both ruled out of the series. Captain Rohit Sharma is set to miss the fixture with a thumb injury and KL Rahul will captain the side.
IND Batting
Although he was outshone by the brilliant Ishan Kishan who made 210 in the final ODI, Virat Kohli continued his strong form from the T20 World Cup with 113 from 91 balls on Saturday. Kohli has now scored 72 international centuries and is in outright second place behind only Sachin Tendulkar.
IND Bowling
Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace attack who will be without first choice opening bowlers Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. We expect Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel to be the two main spinners but do not rule out a third being selected for this Test.
IND Form
India have played only one Test since March and have lost three of their last five in this format.
