Bangladesh Team News & Playing 11
BAN Team News
Taijul Islam made his T20i debut in the opening game, taking a wicket with his first ball, and will be hopeful of another go this time. Mahedi Hasan and Yeasin Arafat were the two to miss out but Bangladesh might wait until Chittagong to rotate their squad.
BAN Key Players
Shakib Al Hasan: Punished in the last game with the ball and then out cheaply with the bat, the Tigers’ captain and star all-rounder will have a point to prove – but everyone knows just what he is capable of, particularly in Dhakha.
Mushfiqur Rahim: Yet to translate his ODI form into the T20i cricket, but the wicket-keeper-batsman has been in top form this year and so this is a good opportunity to correct that record a little.
Mustafizur Rahman: Finished the World Cup with back-to-back five-wicket hauls and so is another now looking to continue that form in the shorter format. He has 111 wickets in 89 T20 appearances.
BAN Team Form
Bangladesh lost their most recent T20i series to West Indies – a team they had beaten by the same score, 2-1, when they met in their previous series before that. They made a winning start to this tournament, however – in a match reduced to 18 overs, Afif Hossain’s 52 from 26 balls proved the difference as Bangladesh reached 148/7 with two balls to spare to claim a three-wicket win.
Bangladesh Predicted Playing 11
Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Mossadek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman
Afghanistan Team News & Playing 11
AFG Team News
Wicket-keeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz made his mark at the top of the order last time out, hitting 43 from 24 balls on his T20i debut. After a winning start, Afghanistan – like Bangladesh – might wait until Chittagong to make changes as they ultimately build towards the World T20.
AFG Key Players
Rashid Khan: The captain and star bowler – ranked world number one – took 2-29 in the first game to help Afghanistan to victory. He took eight wickets in three games when these teams last met.
Najibullah Zadran: The batsman top-scored with 69* from 30 balls in the last game. The middle-order batsman averages 33.32 from 51 T20 internationals and boasts a strike rate of 145.62, proving himself a useful finisher.
Mohammad Nabi: Hit four sixes on his way to a rapid 38 from 18 balls at the end of the Afghanistan innings last time out – sharing a century partnership with Zadran. He then conceded just nine runs from his two tidy overs, proving his all-round quality.
AFG Team Form
Victory in the opening game stretched winning streak in T20i matches to 11, which includes a 3-0 series whitewash of Bangladesh when they last met last year.
A 107-run partnership in the final 6.4 overs of the innings between Najibullah Zadran (69*) and Mohammad Nabi (38) lifted them to 197/5 against Zimbabwe in their first game of this series. In reply, Fareed Ahmad (2-35) and Rashid Khan (2-29) helped restrict Zimbabwe to just 169/7.
Afghanistan Predicted Playing 11
Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Najeeb Tarakai, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Rashid Khan (c), Fareed Ahmad, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman
