Oman are favorites to win
Bahrain will take on Oman at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Doha. This T20I gets underway at 20:30 local time on Tuesday 19th September, 2023.
Overall it has been a good cricket wicket in Doha with something for all types of bowlers but also enough pace to assist and encourage the batters to play their shots.
Read on for team previews, betting tips, latest odds, and match prediction for Bahrain vs Oman, Gulf Cricket T20I Championship 2023
It took three games but Bahrain finally got off the mark in the tournament as they beat Saudi Arabia by a convincing 6 wicket margin on Monday evening in Doha. There were strong performances across the team but Oman will be a much more formidable opponent.
With a target of only 111 to win against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain made comfortable work of it in spite of two players being dismissed for ducks and got home with more than one over to spare. Junaid Aziz could well be pushed up the order for this match after hitting six boundaries from number six in Match 8.
With the exception of Yousif Wali who conceded 18 runs from his only over on Monday, Bahrain’s bowlers will all be keen to get the ball in hand in this match after picking up at least one wicket against Saudi Arabia. Ali Dawood will be looking for his third successive 2-wicket haul in the competition.
Bahrain had lost three T20Is on the bounce before their comfortable victory over Saudi Arabia.
Umer Toor (c), Imran Ali Butt (wk), Haider Butt, Ahmer Bin Nasir, Imran Anwar, Sathaiya Veerapathiran, Rizwan Butt, Abdul Majid Abbasi, Fiaz Ahmed, Ali Dawood, Mohsin Zaki
Defending a target of 150 against Qatar on Sunday, Oman put their defeat against UAE behind them as they got their first victory of the campaign in Match 5. However, they have not been at their best in either of the two games so far in the tournament.
After missing the win over Qatar, skipper Aqib Ilyas will come back into the team at number three for Shoaib Khan who made a disappointing 3-ball duck on Sunday. Ilyas’ quality should bolster the top order against Bahrain as they did not perform against Qatar and left their team at 13-3 at one stage.
Oman have a solid group of bowlers to call upon and the team management will be looking for similar figures from the unit in this match after no player conceded more than an average of 8.50 runs per over in the last game. Mehran Khan will be chasing his fifth wicket of the tournament when he bowls against the Bahrain batters.
Oman have won only two of their last five T20Is but ended a run of three defeats in a row on Sunday.
Kashyap Prajapati, Jatinder Singh, Shoaib Khan, Ayaan Khan (c), Mohammad Nadeem, Naseem Khushi (wk), Rafiullah, Mehran Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan
With both teams winning their last match to end three-game losing streaks, there should be some new found optimism in both squads. Bahrain and Oman look strongest with the ball rather than with the bat and whichever bowling attack is most accurate is likely to win. We rate Oman’s bowlers as the better of the two and we are backing Oman to win this match.
