Australia U19 Women are favorites to win
Australia Women U19 and Bangladesh Women U19 will face each other in the 1st match of the inaugural edition of the U19 Women T20 World Cup. The match is scheduled to take place on 14th January at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.
Australia is a strong team in this tournament and it will be led by Rhys McKenna. The squad has a good quality of all-rounders which can help them win more matches.
At the batting line-up, Australia has Kate Pelle and wicketkeeper batter Paris Bowdler at the top-order. Claire Moore and Ella Hayward looked in good touch in the warm-up match against India. Hayward scored 34 runs off 30 deliveries against South Africa in warm ups.
Ella Hayward was in good form with the ball as well as we saw in the warm up match where she picked 2 wickets in 2 overs. Amy Smith also picked a wicket while Ella Wilson bowled with an impressive economy of 2.33 in 3 overs. Rhys McKenna was also impressive in the 2nd warm up against South Africa. She ended with figures 3/7 in 2 overs.
Australia is a strong squad but they looked weak against India in the warm-ups after failing to chase just 99 runs. They backed themselves up in the 2nd warm up against South Africa and won by 8 wickets. We can say that this win will give them some confidence for the 1st match against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Women U19 team looks stronger than expected. The team is led by Disha Biswas who is a pacer all-rounder. After some great warm up matches, the team is all set to begin their T20 World Cup camp for the 1st match against Australia.
Shorna Akter is certainly a star batter currently for the Bangladesh U19 women team. She scored a match-winning knock of 75 runs in 54 deliveries against India after scoring 20 runs in the first warm up against South Africa. Along with her we can see Afia Prottasha, Sumaiya Akter, Dilara Akter.
Dipa Khatun and Disha Biswas picked 2 wickets against South Africa and they look in good form while Marufa Akter was brilliant with the ball and ending with figures 3/13 in 4 overs.
