Australia Women and India Women go head to head in Match 1 of the Women’s Cricket tournament which forms part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. This is the first time that Women’s Cricket has featured in the games and the first time that any cricket has been involved since the men’s tournament as part of the 1998 edition. Australia Women have dominated women’s cricket across all formats for many years. They were far too good for Pakistan Women and Ireland Women during the tri-series but India Women should provide a sterner test.
After finishing fifth in the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand back in March and April, India Women have an opportunity to make amends in this tournament. However, they could not have asked for a tougher start.

We expect that both teams will want to field first. Conditions will not be all that different from innings to innings and by batting second they will be able to judge the pace of the wicket before batting themselves.
