Who will win Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe, 2nd T20?
Afghanistan are the final team to start this Tri-Nation Series, taking on Zimbabwe in Dhaka. The match, at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, takes place on September 13 and the live action is scheduled to start at 18:30 local time.
Zimbabwe lost the opening game to Bangladesh, despite Ryan Burl’s half-century helping them to 144/5 in a reduced 18-over match. Bangladesh reached 148/7 to win by three wickets. Zimbabwe’s suspension by the ICC is already having its toll, with Sikandar Raza not in the squad and Hamilton Masakadza announcing his imminent retirement.
Afghanistan will be keen to ensure the Zimbabwe captain does not get a winning send off too. They are in excellent form in the 20-over format and have beaten both other teams in this series during their current ten-game winning streak.

Afghanistan Team News & Playing 11
AFG Team News
Now captained by Rashid Khan, Afghanistan have a strong squad with Mohammad Shahzad – currently serving a suspension – the most notable absentee. Uncapped wicket-keeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz could be behind the stumps in Shahzad’s absence.
AFG Key Players
Rashid Khan: Still ranked the world number one T20i bowler, the new Afghanistan captain took 11 wickets in the test match that preceded this series. He has 261 wickets in 179 T20 matches in his career.
Mohammad Nabi: Still in high demand in T20 cricket, having taken plenty of wickets in his stint with Kent Spitfires alongside some useful runs. The all-rounder remains one of Afghanistan’s finest yet.
Hazratullah Zazai: Failed to show his best form at the World Cup, but the big-hitting 21-year-old opener is back in his favoured format now – the format in which, earlier this year, he smashed 162* in one win against Ireland.
AFG Team Form
Afghanistan are unbeaten in their last ten T20i matches. They beat Ireland 3-0 in India most recently, to follow an away win against the same opposition and series successes against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
In Dehradun, Afghanistan were in superb form. Mohammad Nabi took 2-16 and then hit 49* as they won the first match by five wickets, before Hazratullah Zazai hit 162* in a total of 278/3 as they thrashed Ireland by 84 runs.
Nabi top-scored in their most recent T20 international, meanwhile, hitting 81 from 36 balls in a total of 210/7. Rashid Khan then claimed 5-27 as they restricted Ireland to 178/8 to seal a 3-0 series whitewash.

Hazratullah Zazai, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Rahmanullah Girbaz (wk), Rashid Khan (c), Sharafuddin Ashraf, Dawlat Zadran, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman
Zimbabwe Team News & Playing 11
ZIM Team News
Tony Munyonga made his Zimbabwe debut in the opening game as they look to build towards their uncertain future. It was an experienced opening pairing of Brendan Taylor and retiring Hamilton Masakadza last time out and changes might be limited despite the defeat.
ZIM Key Players
Kyle Jarvis: His two wickets last time out continued his good T20i form – he has five wickets in his last two games in the format and 61 in total in his career.
Ryan Burl: Hammered 30 in one over, on his way to 57*, last time out and also took a wicket. The wicket, with his leg-break bowling, was a rare one but he does have a strike rate of 131.70 with the bat now.
Brendan Taylor: The wicket-keeper-batsman opened up having hit a half-century in the warm-up match. Ahead of his 150th T20 appearance, he has one hundred and 23 50s to his name, and a strike rate in excess of 120.
ZIM Team Form
Zimbabwe, who drew their last two T20i series – to Ireland and the Netherlands – made a losing start to this tournament. Ryan Burl’s unbeaten 57, including 30 runs from one Shakib Al Hasan over, lifted Zimbabwe from 63/5 to 144/5 in a match reduced to 18 overs last time out. That still did not prove enough, however – Bangladesh also benefitting from some late hitting as they posted 148/7 to win with two balls to spare.
Zimbabwe Predicted Playing 11
Brendan Taylor (wk), Hamilton Masakadza (c), Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Timycen Maruma, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Ryan Burl, Kyle Jarvis, Neville Madziva, Tony Munyonga, Tendai Chatara
