Adelaide Strikers are favorites to win
Defending champions Adelaide Strikers welcome Brisbane Heat to the Adelaide Oval, knowing anything less than a win will end their slim hopes of a Big Bash League 2018/19 semi-final place. The match is scheduled for February 3 and the live action begins at 17:45 local time.

Adelaide Strikers prefer to bat first at the Adelaide Oval and, if they win the Bat Flip, will probably do the same again.

Peter Siddle could be released to play for Adelaide Strikers again after not being selected in the final XI for Australia's second test with Sri Lanka. In similar circumstances during the first test, he played. Harry Nielsen, Wes Agar and Cameron Valente all returned last time out, in place of Siddle, Billy Stanlake and Matthew Short. Agar and Valente went wicketless, however, and the former seems the most likely to miss out for Siddle.
Adelaide Strikers' opening pair rediscovered some form last time out as Alex Carey hit 54 from 35 balls and Jake Weatherald smashed 82 from 42 ball. They shared a 116-run partnership in the process.
Weatherald has now hit 318 runs in the tournament, with that his third half-century, while Carey is on 278 from ten innings with one of his other two half-centuries having come in the opening-day win against Brisbane Heat.
Colin Ingram has 305 runs, meanwhile - again including three half-centuries - having captained the side in place of Australian international Travis Head this season.
Wickets have been the issue for the Strikers, though Rashid Khan - who took three on the opening day - has now taken 16 for the season after his 2-28 against Hobart last time out. Peter Siddle took 1-8 in two overs the last time these two teams met, and has four wickets in four BBL appearances this season, around his international commitments.
Victory against Hobart Hurricanes last time out ended a run of four straight defeats for the Adelaide Strikers. A lack of both runs and wickets cost them during that losing streak, which began when they were bowled out for 97 against Sydney Thunder - Colin Ingram scoring 48 of those runs in a 71-run defeat.
Ingram top scored again next up, with an unbeaten 67 against Hobart Hurricanes, but the Hurricanes did not lose a wicket in pursuit of 155 to win.
Adelaide took just two as Melbourne Stars set 167/2 in the next game - the Strikers all out in the final over for just 123 - and they only managed one run more than that next up, scoring 124/8 on their way to an eight-wicket defeat to Sydney Sixers.
Needing to beat Hobart Hurricanes last time out to keep their season alive, however, they did exactly that. Set 170 to win, Alex Carey (54) and Jake Weatherald (82) shared a 116-run opening partnership and the Strikers claimed a seven-wicket win in 17.5 overs.

Matt Kuhnemann made his T20 debut and Jack Prestwidge also came into the team last time out, replacing Brendan Doggett and Mitchell Swepson, as Brisbane managed to halt their losing streak. Kuhnemann took two wickets on debut and could now retain his place. With nothing but pride to play for, they may choose to continue with their younger players too. Another interesting tweak saw Ben Cutting open the batting, with Brendon McCullum dropping to number four and they may repeat that tactic as they look to get the Kiwi icon firing again.
Chris Lynn's unbeaten half-century led Brisbane to victory against Perth Scorchers last time out and his fourth half-century of this season's Big Bash League propelled him to third in the batting charts with 385 runs.
Brendon McCullum's form has eluded him of late, but he has hit three half-centuries so far, on his way to 238 runs, while Matt Renshaw's omission from the Australian test squad means he slots into the middle order to add even more firepower.
With the ball, Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed 3-16 from four overs and the Afghani spinner now has 12 wickets in the tournament. He also proved an unlikely star with the bat when these teams last met - his score of 27 is the highest by a number 11 batsman in T20 cricket.
Josh Lalor also took three wickets last time out to move to 14 for the tournament. That includes 5-26 in a losing cause against Sydney Sixers - the best figures by any bowler in this year's tournament so far.
Brisbane Heat lost three matches in a row before bouncing back to beat Perth Scorchers. After a fortunate power failure against Sydney Thunder, having been set for a big defeat when the lights went out to force a no result, the Heat failed to take advantage of their fortune.
Josh Lalor's 5-26 restricted Sydney Sixers to 177/7 next up, but the Heat were all out for just 98 in reply and batting let them down again next up - scoring 129/8 in reply to 134/8, despite having been 111/5 after 16.4 overs.
Alex Ross (62) and Jimmy Peirson (50) lifted the Heat to 145/6 against Hobart Hurricanes next up, but the Hurricanes lost just one wicket as they reached the target with 34 balls to spare.
But Brisbane came back well. Mujeeb ur Rahman and Lalor both took three wickets as they restricted Perth Scorchers to 128/9 and Chris Lynn's half-century ensured victory was never in doubt - the Heat earning a six-wicket win with 2.3 overs to spare.

Adelaide Strikers' win against Brisbane Heat on the opening day of this season's tournament was their fifth in eight previous games against them.
They also won their one game against them last season, when Michael Neser's unbeaten 40 lifted them to 147/7, before he claimed 2-7 from his two overs, and Ben Laughlin (3-11) and Rashid Khan (2-19) also chipped in with wickets as the Heat were bowled out for 91.
This season, Alex Carey was the Strikers' star man after Rashid Khan had taken 3-19 to restrict the Heat to 146/5. Carey hit 70 from 46 balls and the Strikers won by five wickets with five balls to spare.
Adelaide Strikers need a win to keep their play-off hopes alive and they are a best price of 1.73 with Betfair to achieve that. Bet365 are offering 1.66 on a Strikers win and 2.20 on Brisbane Heat.
Adelaide's openers were back on top form last time out and they are 1.91 with Betfair to post the highest opening partnership - particularly tempting now Brisbane's “Bash Brothers” have dropped back down to number three and four.
Of the two Strikers' openers, Jake Weatherald - top scorer last time out - is 4.50 to be their top scorer again, while Alex Carey, who achieved that fear last time they played Brisbane, is 4.00.
For the Heat, in-form Chris Lynn is 3.50 with Betfair and well worth backing having scored his fourth half-century and moved third in this season's Big Bash batting charts last time out.
Both sides ended their losing streaks last time out, but only Adelaide can qualify for the play-offs of these two teams and they can earn the win that keeps those slim hopes alive.
Final Verdict: Back Adelaide Strikers to beat Brisbane Heat at 1.73 with Betfair and 1.66 with Bet365
