Sydney Thunder are in a miserable situation in the tournament. They have lost three of the four matches and are tottering at the bottom of the points table. They desperately need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Brisbane Heat have also lost two of the three games. They too cannot afford to lose too many matches at the start of the tournament as then it will only be a catching game for them and making it to the playoffs will get extremely difficult
The wicket should assist the batters. The bowlers might find some help early on but overall the pitch will play in favour of the batters.
The weather will be bright and sunny with temperatures ranging between 21 and 29 degrees.

Sam Billings came to the party against Adelaide Strikers as he played a brilliant 79-run knock to help the Heat post 166-9, ensuring a 6-run win for his team.
Colin Munro has not lived up to the expectations in the tournament so far but he is a destructive batter who is a match-winner on his day. Munro is a good player to have.
Alex Hales had a good outing against Adelaide Strikers as he played a 68 run knock to help Thunder reach 150. Even though it was not sufficient to win them the game, Hales’ knock will give them great confidence going into the match.
Mark Steketee took 4 wickets in the last game against the Strikers and helped Heat pick up their first win. This is what pace does as it has the ability to rattle an opposition.
Michael Neser can be a good addition to the team. He has bowled well so far in the tournament with six wickets in two matches.
