The Netherlands and New Zealand played out a good match in the first T20I. New Zealand did win the match but not before the Netherlands gave them a run for their money. The Netherlands bowled exceptionally well and restricted New Zealand to 148-7 in 20 overs. However, their batting collapsed, and they were reduced to 73-6 before Bas de Leede took charge of the innings and played some crisp shots, during a knock of 66, to take the Netherlands close. However, with no support from the other end, he couldn’t take the Netherlands over the line as the team was bowled out for 132, 16 runs short of the target.
With this win, New Zealand have continued their unbeaten run on the Europe tour. The Netherlands will need runs from the top order if they are to complete in the coming game, however, the presence of Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner makes scoring big runs against NZ difficult.
Even though the first match was a low scoring one, the pitch was a good one to bat. The bowling was good while a few batters played some poor shots which resulted in both teams struggling to score big.
The temperature on the match day will range between 12 to 21 degrees. There will be some clouds hovering around the city, but the chances of rain are just 10 per cent.

Martin Guptill once again threw away a very good start and was dismissed for 45 in the first match. There have been far too many good starts thrown away by Guptill in recent times and it is necessary for him to get a big one now.
Glenn Phillips had a good series against Ireland and played a couple of match-saving innings. He will look to perform well in the coming game and boost his place in the New Zealand team. The performance in this Europe tour will determine the 15 players who will travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
Bas de Leede played a good knock of 66 in the last game. He is a good player to have in the team as he is a top order batter. He also bowls a couple of overs which is why he is worth being selected in the team.
Ish Sodhi will be a great weapon for NZ in the coming game. The Netherlands players are not used to playing quality spin and often struggle against them. Sodhi bowls wicket to wicket and does not offer too many freebies that increases the pressure on the batters, resulting in false shots and a few wickets.
Mitchell Santner is also a quality spinner who has troubled most batters in the world. Santner, being a left arm spinner, is always difficult to face. He is a bowler who does not try much and stick to tight line and lengths, forcing batters to make errors. The batters, in an attempt to score runs against him, give him a lot of wickets.
