Los Angeles Knight Riders vs San Francisco Unicorns, Match 8- MLC | |
---|---|
Date | July 19, 2023 |
Time | 6:00 AM IST, 12:30 AM GMT, 7:30 PM Local Time |
Venue | Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas |
The Knight Riders have had a poor start to the tournament. They started the tournament with a 69-run loss to Texas Super Kings before losing to Mi New York by 105 runs. The team was bowled out for a mere 50 against MINY.
San Francisco Unicorns, on the other hand, have done better, with a win and loss in two games. The team won the first match against MI New York by 22 runs before suffering a defeat to Seattle Orcas by 35 runs.
The pitch has been helpful for slower bowlers and will assist the spinners in the next game as well. Batters need to spend time at the wicket before playing shots. Getting used to the pace will make batting much easier.
It will be a clear evening, with no threat of rain. However, high temperature and humidity can be challenging for players.
Martin Guptill/Jason Roy, Unmukt Chand, Rilee Rossouw, Nitish Kumar, Jaskaran Malhotra (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine (c), Corne Dry, Adam Zampa, Lockie Ferguson, Ali Khan
Finn Allen, Matthew Wade (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Aaron Finch (c), Corey Anderson, Shadab Khan, Tajinder Dhillon, Chaitanya Bishnoi, Carmi le Roux, Haris Rauf, Liam Plunkett
Los Angeles Knight Riders will be keen to get Jason Roy in the playing 11. We have no update on why he has not featured in the games so far despite ending his England contract to play in MLC. If Roy comes in, replace Martin Guptill with Roy in Dream 11 team. San Francisco Unicorns, however, are likely to go in with the same combination.
This will be the first meeting of the teams in Major League Cricket.

Corey Anderson had a brilliant game against MINY as he went on smash 91 runs in just 52 balls. Anderson might be inconsistent at times but he is one of the most destructive batters when on song. Someone who has a century off just 36 balls is always a threat.
Shadab is also a valuable player to back. The all-rounder adds a lot of depth to the team. He scored 61 runs and picked a wicket against MINY. He then played another good innings of 37 against Seattle Orcas.
Stoinis has not got off to a start he would have liked but he brings a lot of experience and quality to the team. He is a specialist T20 player and a good performance from him is not far away.
Narine continues to be a key figure in the Knight Riders franchise. Narine has been economical but has only picked up a wicket. But when you stop runs, wickets are bound to come. Narine of late has also shown great batting skills.
Zampa picked 2 wickets against MINY, giving just 25 runs. He also picked a wicket against Texas Super Kings. The wicket is assisting the spinners thus Zampa becomes a key player for his team.
