Sri Lanka had their moments in the theT20I series but beating India in India was always going to be tough. They did win the second T20I but India emerged victorious in the series after winning the first and final match. The focus now shifts to the ODI series. With World Cup lined up in a few months’ time, this is a very important series for both teams.
The teams will look at this series to figure out the best combination and fix their jigsaw. India will start the match as favourites for sure but Sri Lanka is well capable to pull off an upset. Big guns like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will return to the Indian team.
The wicket will be a good one to bat. It’s winter in India so there will be some help on offer with the new ball. Dew could also play a significant role in the outcome of the match.
The weather will be bright and sunny with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees during the day. The temperature will dip to 13 degrees during the evenings.

Even though Virat Kohli is yet to hit the peak, he has been in some good form across formats in recent times. In the previous ODI series against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli scored a century in the third and final ODI.
Suryakumar Yadav has been piling on runs for fun in recent times. Surya scored a blistering 45-ball century against Sri Lanka in the final T20I so he comes into the match with great momentum behind him.
Dasun Shanaka had a great T20I series as he scored 124 runs in 3 matches. However, his performances in ODIs have been a bit inconsistent. Shanaka will be leading Sri Lanka for the first time in ODI World Cup so he will be keen to raise his bar in ODIs as well.
Veteran India pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be back for team India in the 1st ODI. Bumrah has been out of action for a while due to injury but the layoff would have given him enough time to rest and refresh. Bumrah has a great record against Sri Lanka and he would like to continue his good run against the Islanders.
Irrespective of the format, Hasaranga is the main man for Sri Lanka with the ball. Hasaranga had an average T20I series and he would like to make amends in the ODI series.
