India and England will clash in the rescheduled 5th Test in Edgbaston Birmingham. The Test stands of utmost importance for both teams as it is part of the previous series that was postponed after 4 games. A win for India will give them their first Test series win over England in England after 2007.
England were going through a rough patch over the last two years but the appointment of Ben Stokes as captain and Brendon McCullum as the coach has worked wonders for them. The team recently thrashed New Zealand 3-0.
India, on the other hand, last played a Test in March against Sri Lanka so the players are not in Test cricket mode. They only had a few hits in the warm-up game against Leicestershire. More so, there are a few injury concerns as well. KL Rahul is out of the tour due to injury while the participation of skipper Rohit Sharma is also in doubt. Overall, India have a lot of issues to deal with heading into the match.
The pitch in Edgbaston favours the pacers for the first three days before it gets slightly better to bat. The spinners come into play on the final two days. We are expecting another good cricketing wicket for the 5th test.
The weather is likely to cause some hindrance in the match. There is rain predicted on the first three days while the final two days will witness bright sunshine.

The Indian team is dealing with injury concerns. KL Rahul will not be part of the game due to injury. Skipper Rohit Sharma is also doubtful due to health issues.
England have dominated India over the years in test cricket, especially in their home conditions.
Played | Matches Played | IND Won | ENG won | Draw |
---|---|---|---|---|
Overall | 130 | 31 | 49 | 50 |
Cheteshwar Pujara will be the biggest asset for India. He recently played in County Cricket for Sussex and did remarkably well. He scored two hundreds and two double hundreds in the 4 games he played.
Jonny Bairstow seems to be in the form of his life. The keeper-batter scored two blistering hundreds against New Zealand in the recently concluded series.
Joe Root was also in fine form against New Zealand and hit two hundreds in the first two games. He also has a staggering record against India.
Virat Kohli has been going through a lean patch but when it comes to big games, he is India’s one of the top performers. Kohli will be keen to perform well and lead India to a win against England in the 5th Test.
Mohammed Shami will enjoy the conditions in Edgbaston. He can swing the ball both ways and trouble the England batters. He is India’s best pacer on form.
Dream11 Captain – Joe Root
