Australia picked up a comprehensive six-wicket win in the first ODI against England. Batting first, England posted a healthy score of 287/9 in 50 overs. Dawid Malan was the star of the innings as he scored a brilliant hundred to help England post a decent total.
However, the score was not enough as half-centuries by David Warner, Travis Head and Steve Smith scored fifties and propelled Australia to a comfortable win. Australia have all their bases covered with strong batting and an equally potent bowling up. England’s bowling though looks bleak.
Once again, a batting-friendly surface should be on display in Sydney. It should be hard work for the bowlers in the second ODI as well.
The weather will be cloudy with a 10 per cent chance of rain. The temperature will range between 23 to 18 degrees.
David Warner, Travis Head, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa
Jason Roy, Philip Salt, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Liam Dawson/Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, David Willey/Sam Curran, Luke Wood/Chris Woakes, Olly Stone
England didn’t play Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes in the previous game and a few of them should be back in the team. Australia might bring in Josh Hazlewood who didn’t play the first game.
Australia have dominated England in ODIs, and they have a great record at home.

Jos Buttler didn’t have the best outing in the last game but he is one of the best England batters and will be eyeing a comeback in the second ODI. Buttler looked good during his stay at the crease in the 1st match but played a poor shot to get out. A little more sensible play from him may help him score a big one.
David Warner looked in prime form in the first ODI and scored a blazing 86 off 84 to help Australia fetch an easy win. Warner, when on song, is very hard to stop and with runs behind him, will be a threat for England in the coming game as well.
England were down and out in the first ODI before Dawid Malan showed his class and scored a brilliant century to help England post a decent score on the board. Malan will be a key player for England in the coming game as well and England will expect another good show from him.
Pat Cummins bowled beautifully in the first game and picked up 3 wickets for 62 runs. The spell will give Cummins a great deal of confidence, especially after a lean patch in recent times and we may see the best of him in the coming game.
Adam Zampa also picked up 3 wickets in the first game. Zampa is a very underrated bowler but he always delivers for the side. He will also be key for Australia in the coming game.
