Read on for our betting tips, betting odds and match prediction for VKB Knights vs Cape Cobras, CSA T20 Challenge 2016....
In the absence of Rilee Rossouw who is away with the national team in Australia, the Knights will be depending mainly on David Miller and Reeza Hendricks to deliver the goods with the bat. Miller has done well in the 20-over format in recent times and we predict him to score the most runs for his team in this match. Hendricks made an unbeaten 98 against the Cobras last season and the Knights will have high hopes pinned on him.
Fast bowlers Marchant de Lange and Ryan McLaren will be their best options for picking up the wickets and putting pressure on the Cobras. McLaren, who has been signed on loan from the Sunfoil Dolphins, has taken 46 wickets for the Knights in South Africa's domestic T20 competition and has also fared well in many seasons of the Indian Premier League. He, therefore, is more likely to trouble the Cobras.
Richard Levi, Justin Ontong and Justin Kemp are the three batsmen in the side whom the Cobras will bank on to score the big runs for them. Levi and Kemp are aggressive batsmen and they can be expected to entertain the crowd with some big hits. The former has scored the most runs for the Cobras including one hundred and twelve fifties and is most likely to top-score against the Knights.
Rory Kleinveldt, Dane Paterson and Wayne Parnell will be leading the charge with the ball. The trio form the Cobra's pace attack who will be backed to pick up the wickets. Parnell has been a consistent performer in this format for a while now and we predict him to be the most successful of the lot against the Knights.
VKB Knights and Cape Cobras are both 1.03 and 1.90 with 1xbet and bet365 respectively. Toss is going to be the key at the Wanderers since the toss-winning team has won the previous three matches here. So betting on the Cobras would definitely be the right thing to do if they win the toss on Saturday.
Cape Cobras have performed slightly better than the VKB Knights in the tournament's recent past. They made it through to the knockout stage last year while the latter were ousted at the end of the league stage. The Cobras had also defeated the Knights in the finals of the 2014 edition and won both their ties against them in the previous season. In fact, the Knights have not been able to win against the Cobras in their last six encounters which is going to give an enormous psychological advantage to the latter ahead of this match.
VKB Knights are a strongly recruited team and they will always be in with a chance if their local players perform to their potential. However, considering the better head-to-head stats of Cape Cobras, we predict them to be the winners of this opening match of the CSA T20 Challenge 2016.
