North West are favorites to win
Western Province will take on North West at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Match 19 of the CSA T20 Challenge gets underway at 18:00 local time on Thursday, October 27th.
After the rain prevented a ball being bowled in the clash with Warriors on Sunday, Western province got their first points of the campaign. Prior to that game they had lost to Rocks by five wickets, Knights by nine wickets and Titans by 16 runs (DLS).
30 year old all-rounder George Linde is Western Province’s highest run scorer in the tournament so far with 80 runs from 77 balls. 20 year old keeper-batter Daniel Smith has hit 77 runs with a top score of 31 and an average of 25.66 from his three innings.
Without the bowling of Tshepo Moreki, Western Province could well have lost their first three games by larger margins. The 29 year old right arm fast medium bowler has taken 2-24 in two of the matches and recorded figures of 1-16 in the other.
Although the rain gave Western Province a point on Sunday, they are still looking for their first win of the campaign.
Defeats against Titans by five wickets and Dolphins by 30 runs have seen North West lose their last two games after opening their tournament with a 10 run win over Lions. North West have four points and are in seventh place, two points above Western Province.
North West posted 134-8 in their last match against Titans with 98 of the runs coming from three batters. Duan Jansen top scored with 41 runs from 27 balls to back up Lesego Seokwane’s 34 and Heino Kuhn’s 23. Senuran Muthusamy is their leading run scorer with 87 runs in the tournament.
North West took five wickets in their defeat to Titans with 19 year old leg-spinner Caleb Saleka leading the attack with figures of 3-29. Pace bowler Renaldo Meyer backed up Saleka with 2-19 from his four overs. Delano Potgieter and Kerwin Mungroo have both taken three wickets in the tournament.
North West are looking to avoid their third successive defeat in this game.
The match will be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. We predict a par score of over 170 in this game on a pitch with good pace but also with movement for the quick bowlers.
