With the series already lost, Sri Lanka Women will be playing for pride and hoping to find some form for some of their key players in this match. Hasini Perera came into the team for the second game of the series and impressed with the bat so we expect her to retain her place in this match.
Chamari Athapaththu failed for the second successive time in the series as she was dismissed for an 8-ball 2 on Monday. Hasini Perera was the only player to hit more than two boundaries with Anushka Sanjeewani striking the only six of the innings.
Kavisha Dilhari is the only player in the Sri Lanka Women side to have taken at least one wicket in both games of the series so far. Experienced left arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera dismissed the dangerous Suzie Bates in the second WT20I.
Sri Lanka Women have not been able to produce quite enough runs in either game so far and they need to win this match to avoid a 3-0 series defeat.
Chamari Athapaththu (c), Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Nilakshi de Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Kavisha Dilhari, Hasini Perera, Sugandika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Inoka Ranaweera, Udeshika Prabodhani
The visitors produced a stronger performance than in the first WT20I of the series and come into this game with the prospect of a 3-0 whitewash very much on the cards. We are not expecting any experimentation with team selection ahead of this game.
With a slightly higher target than in the opening game, New Zealand Women got home in more comfortable style winning by 8 wickets with 8 balls remaining on Monday. Suzie Bates hit 52 to add to her 44 from the first match of the series.
New Zealand Women’s bowling attack were particularly impressive with only Leigh Kasperek returning expensive figures. Fran Jonas, Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr all went wicketless but Eden Carson (1-15) and Lea Tahuhu (4-21) were the most impressive.
New Zealand Women sometimes struggle against the top teams in this format but have been too strong for Sri Lanka Women in both matches so far in this series.
Suzie Bates, Bernadine Bezuidenhout (wk), Melie Kerr, Sophie Devine (c), Maddy Green, Georgia Plimmer, Brooke Halliday, Leigh Kasperek, Lea Tahuhu, Eden Carson, Fran Jonas
Sri Lanka Women produced some good play once again in the second WT20I but they were not as talented as New Zealand Women with both the bat or the ball. We do not expect New Zealand Women to be completely dominant but are still backing them to win the game and take the series 3-0.
