SL vs Ban Toss Prediction
Sri Lanka showed the merit of choosing to bat first in the first ODI and both captains could be looking to adopt a similar tactic. Tamim Iqbal lost his first toss as ODI captain and more fortune this time could help Bangladesh level the series.
SL vs Ban Weather Report
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh should dodge the rain, with a cloudy, humid day forecast in Colombo instead.
SL vs Ban Pitch Condition
This is the second of three-matches at this stadium and the pitch was already better for batting earlier on in the last match than at the end. With the dew factor too, it is very much a bat-first wicket.

Sri Lanka Team News & Playing 11
SL Team News
Sri Lanka will make at least one change from their comprehensive win in the first match, with Lasith Malinga turning his back on ODI cricket. The veteran bowler has officially retired from ODIs after the first game, with Isuru Udana the most obvious candidate to replace him in the team for the second match.
SL Key Players
Kusal Perera: The wicket-keeper-batsman led the way for Sri Lanka last time out, sharing big partnerships with Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis on his way to 111 from 99 balls. He enjoyed a few useful half-centuries during the World Cup too.
Dimuth Karunaratne: An unlikely choice of captain ahead of the World Cup, but the left-handed opener justified his selection with some eye-catching innings, including 97 against Australia.
Nuwan Pradeep: Overshadowed by Lasith Malinga’s farewell performance last time out, the right-arm quick took three wickets to follow the five in three matches he managed at the World Cup, He now has 50 ODI wickets in 37 innings.
SL Team Form
Sri Lanka finished sixth at the World Cup, winning three of seven completed games in total – including a shock win against hosts England. They also beat West Indies by 23 runs after posting 338/6 in their penultimate game, but ended with a heavy seven-wicket loss to India.
They started this series in winning fashion, however. Kusal Perera anchored their innings in the first ODI with 111 in a total of 314/8. In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for 223 – Lasith Malinga claiming 3-38 in his final ODI.

Bangladesh Team News & Playing 11
BAN Team News
Bangladesh are in Sri Lanka without injured captain Mashrafe Mortaza, pace bowler Mohammad Saifuddin and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The former two are injured, while Shakib opted out for personal reasons. Tamim Iqbal is captaining the team instead. Shafiul Islam, a late call-up to the squad, went straight into the line-up last time out and took three wickets, with Taskin Ahmed and Farhad Reza – the other replacements – not called upon.
BAN Key Players
Mushfiqur Rahim: In outstanding form during the World Cup, albeit overshadowed by Shakib, he continued that with 67 last time out. He also hit 50 in the warm-up game and the wicket-keeper-batsman’s fine World Cup included an unbeaten century against Australia and big scores in the wins against South Africa and Afghanistan.
Mustafizur Rahman: Closed out the World Cup with back-to-back five-wicket hauls against India and then Pakistan and then started this series with two more wickets. He now has 105 wickets from just 54 ODI innings.
Tamim Iqbal: The stand-in captain was out for a duck last time out, but the 30-year-old’s reputation goes before him. He has 11 ODI centuries to his name but had a tendency to not back up a good start at the World Cup – form he needs to build on in this series.
BAN Team Form
Bangladesh won three of their matches at the World Cup, but back-to-back defeats in their final two games, against India and Pakistan, ended their slim hopes of qualification to the semi-finals, They were bowled out for 286 replying to India’s 314/9 and then posted just 221 in reply to Pakistan’s 315/9.
They started this series with defeat, however, despite Shafiul Islam taking 3-62 and Mushfiqur Rahim (67) and Sabbir Rahman (60) hitting half-centuries.
