Who will win Scotland vs Oman, T20 WCQ 2019?
Scotland and Oman meet at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai, in the 5th Place Playoff. The match takes place on October 31 and will start at 14:10.
Both teams made hard work of booking their World Cup place, but eventually joined Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Namibia and the Netherlands in reaching next year’s tournament. Scotland had to see off the UAE as, despite being favourites in their group, they could only finish fourth. They won the play-off in style though – George Munsey hitting 65 in a total of 198/6 before they bowled the UAE out for 108.
Oman, on the other hand, could have qualified twice but fluffed their lines. First they lost to Jersey in their final group game, then to Namibia in the semi-final play-off, but they recovered to beat Hong Kong and book the final World Cup spot. Jatinder Singh hit 67 in a total of 134/7 and Bilal Khan took four wickets as Oman ripped through Hong Kong’s top-order on their way to a 12-run win.

SCO vs OMAN Toss Prediction
Both teams won the toss and elected to bat last time out but they may be tempted to field first this time out instead.
SCO vs OMAN Weather Report
Yet again, Dubai will be hot and sunny, with no chance of rain and temperatures in the 30s.
SCO vs OMAN Pitch Condition
The ICC Academy Ground has been a bit more balanced compared to the other grounds used in Dubai. Earlier matches on the wicket, which has had a little time to recover lately, were much more even affairs than the batsman-friendly games at the International Cricket Stadium.

Scotland Team News & Playing 11
SCO Team News
Though he has been banned from bowling due to a suspect bowling action, Tom Sole returned to the team to face the UAE, with Craig Wallace making way. Ollie Hairs has been ruled out with a fractured foot, and was replaced for the play-offs by Dylan Budge, though Budge did not play against the UAE.
SCO Key Players
Calum MacLeod: His 25 against the UAE moved him to 213 runs in this tournament, while he turned his arm in that game too and took 1-18 – only his third T20i wicket. With the bat, he passed 1,000 T20i runs earlier in this competition.
Mark Watt: Took three wickets when Scotland last beat Oman, and has also taken three wickets in each of the last two games – claiming 3-18 against the Netherlands and 3-21 against the UAE.
George Munsey: Powered Scotland’s effort against the UAE with two fours and five sixes in a total of 65 from 43 balls. He has hit two half-centuries in his last three innings, and averages 30.31 in T20i cricket – with a strike rate of 155.20.
SCO Team Form
Defeats to Singapore, Namibia and, most recently, the Netherlands meant Scotland had to come through the play-offs to reach the World Cup. They posted 130/8 against the Dutch, led by Matthew Cross’ half-century, and Mark Watt claimed 3-18 in reply but could not prevent a four-wicket win.
It left them needing to beat the UAE to reach next year’s tournament, but George Munsey (65) and Richie Berrington (48 from 18 balls) helped them to 198/6 before Safyaan Sharif and Mark Watt each took three wickets as they bowled the hosts out for 108.
Scotland Predicted Playing 11
George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Michael Leask, Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross (wk), Tom Sole, Safyaan Sharif, Josh Davey, Mark Watt, Alasdair Evans
Oman Team News & Playing 11
OMAN Team News
Needing to get back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats, Oman brought in Mehran Khan and Naseem Khushi last time out. Sandeep Goud and Khurram Nawaz were the men to make way. Khushi’s late-order hitting proved crucial to Oman’s win too – so it may be an unchanged team to take on Scotland.
OMAN Key Players
Khawar Ali: Fell short with the bat last time out, but 2-23 moved him to 11 wickets in the tournament so far. He has scored 128 runs opening the batting too – nothing outstanding, but enough in small stages to show what he is capable of.
Bilal Khan: Ripped through Namibia’s top order in the first play-off on his way to a four-wicket haul and repeated the trick against Hong Kong last time out as he finished with 4-23. This time it did not prove in vain either, as he moved to 16 wickets in the tournament.
Jatinder Singh: Too often he has been hit and miss but he carried his bat to score 67* last time out, having done similar with 68* against Canada in the group stage. It was his third T20i half-century and a large part of the reason Oman are heading to the T20 World Cup.
OMAN Team Form
Oman nearly fluffed their lines, having previously been in excellent form both coming into this tournament and in the early parts of the group stage too. Victory against Jersey would have seen them finish top but they could only post 127/9 needing 142 to win. They then started well with bat and ball against Namibia – Bilal Khan claiming 4-19 – but eventually conceded and 161/7 and collapsed to 107 all out.
Jatinder Singh hit 67 in a total of 134/7 against Hong Kong, however, and Bilal Khan took another four wickets to wrap up a 12-run win and a place at next year’s tournament.
Oman Predicted Playing 11
Jatinder Singh, Khawar Ali, Aqib Ilyas, Zeeshan Maqsood (c), Aamir Kaleem, Suraj Kumar (wk), Mehran Khan, Naseem Khushi, Mohammad Nadeem, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan
Scotland vs Oman Head to Head
Scotland have won both of their previous T20 international matches against Oman. First, they bowled them out for 133 on their way to a seven-wicket win in the Desert T20 Challenge in 2017, then they dismissed them for 111 and hit 115/3 in the Oman Quadrangular T20i series in February this year. Mark Watt took 3-20 and Richie Berrington hit 47* in Scotland’s win. Scotland were not part of the Oman Pentangular Series earlier this month.

Scotland have the bigger reputation but Oman had showed some good form coming into this tournament and for much of the group stage. They could end up upsetting the odds, with both teams perhaps taking their foot off the gas a little having secured their World Cup places.
