Who will win Scotland vs Kenya, T20 WCQ 2019?

Scotland will look to bounce back from their shock opening defeat to Singapore when they take on Kenya in their second Group B match of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in Dubai. The match, on the ICC Academy Ground 2, is scheduled to take place on October 19 and get under way at 14:10 local time.

The Scots remain among the favourites to reach the final tournament, but finished short in their chase of 169 to beat Singapore first up. That was despite George Munsey smashing 46 from 25 balls at the top of the order in a 70-run opening partnership.

Kenya, meanwhile, had Collins Obuya in top form in their opening game against the Netherlands – he took 2-16 with the ball and then scored 63 from 40 balls with the bat – but Kenya finished short on 136/8 in reply to 166/4.

SCO vs KEN Toss Prediction

Scotland elected to field first in the first game, going against the grain slightly. They may prefer to set a target if they get given the chance this time.

SCO vs KEN Weather Report

Dubai will once again be hot and dry, with temperatures in the mid-30s and not a single cloud in the sky.

SCO vs KEN Pitch Condition

It is a balanced wicket at Malahide usually, but there is likely to be some dampness in the outfield and the pitch could be a little slower than usual too.

Scotland Team News & Playing 11

SCO Team News

Josh Davey slotted straight into the team last time out, having not been part of the squad for the Tri-Nation Series in Ireland. He took two wickets and, despite the shock defeat to Singapore, it could be the same side again to face Kenya.

SCO Key Players

George Munsey: Hit an unbeaten century against the Netherlands in Malahide and has been in good form already in the UAE – scoring 86 in the warm-up game against Ireland hammering 46 in the first qualifier against Singapore.

Calum MacLeod: Scored 44 in the opening game and looked to be guiding Scotland to victory until he was dismissed in the final game. His T20i average record is not as good as his ODI one, but he remains a key middle-order batsman.

Hamza Tahir: Took 1-26 in the opening game to follow up his 3-32 in the warm-up game against Ireland. In Malahide, he took seven wickets in three games to follow up the good form he had showed in the ODI series against Oman and Papua New Guinea the previous month.

SCO Team Form

Scotland won two and lost two of their four games at the Ireland Tri-Nation Series in preparation for this tournament but they suffered a shock defeat in their first qualifier. Josh Davey and Safyaan Sharif each took two wickets, as Singapore posted 168/6, but Scotland fell short in reply despite George Munsey’s 46 from 25 balls. They closed on 166/9.

SCO vs KEN Dream11 Team Prediction, Captain, Vice Captain

Wicket-keeper

Neither Matthew Cross nor Irfan Karim managed to make an impact on their teams’ opening games. Cross bats higher up the order, however, and so looks the better option despite being the more expensive.

Batsmen

George Munsey is incredible value at 8.5 credits, having showed he is still in good form with a big impact at the top of the order last time out. He is a full two credits cheaper than opening partner and captain Kyle Coetzer. Calum MacLeod is good value too, at 9.5 credits. Rakep Patel showed some good form for Kenya in the first game and was a key player in the Africa region qualifier to justify his ten-credit cost, while Dhiren Gondaria is at the top of the order and could be good value at 8.5 credits, meanwhile.

All-rounders

Collins Obuya was Kenya’s star man in the opening game, proving his worth with both bat and ball. From the former captain to the new captain, meanwhile – Shem Ngoche is another key Kenyan player and bowled tidily in the first match even if he fell short with the bat. For Scotland, Richie Berrington is better known for his batting than his bowling but he is still an important figure in the upper-middle order.

Bowlers

That leaves three bowling places, and you can pick all Scots now you have filled your Kenyan quota. Both Josh Davey and Safyaan Sharif took two wickets in the first match for Scotland, and both are worth selecting again. Hamza Tahir picked up one meanwhile, and has generally been in good bowling form for the Scots.

Captain/Vice-captain

Collins Obuya might be playing for the underdogs in this game but he showed what he can do with bat and ball in the first match to prove his form. Scotland had George Munsey continue his good batting form, meanwhile. Obuya is a good captain pick because he can contribute across the board, while Munsey has come good with the bat on several occasions lately to make him worth picking at vice-captain.

Kenya Team News & Playing 11

KEN Team News

Kenya’s squad selection sparked controversy, with players like Nehemiah Odhiambo initially missing out despite good form and Collins Obuya being selected despite lacking game time. Obuya justified his selection in the first game, however, with a top all-round performance, and Odhiambo played and took a wicket.

KEN Key Players

Collins Obuya: The former captain took 2-16 with the ball and then scored seven fours and two sixes on his way to 63 from 40 balls with the bat against the Netherlands.

Shem Ngoche: The Kenya captain took three wickets across the two warm-up games, having taken five across three games against Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda before that. He kept things tidy in the first game of this series with 1-21.

Rakep Patel: Scored two half-centuries as Kenya qualified from the Africa Region group, and then started this series with 26 from 20 balls.

KEN Team Form

Kenya started this tournament with defeat to the Netherlands, despite Collins Obuya’s good all-round form. They were able to rein the Dutch in after an explosive start but the target of 167 to win still proved too much – Obuya’s 63 from 40 balls the only score of note as they could only reach 136/8.

Kenya Predicted Playing 11

Dhiren Gondaria, Alex Obanda, Jasraj Kundi, Collins Obuya, Rakep Patel, Shem Ngoche (c), Nelson Odhiambo, Lucas Oluoch, Irfan Karim (wk), Elijah Otieno, Pushpak Kerai
