The hosts maintained their impressive start to this campaign with a huge victory over Italy on Monday to keep them in second place with a 100% record of three wins from three games. Only Ireland are above them in the table and they have played one game more.
Ollie Hairs hit a brilliant 127 not out from 53 balls alongside Brandon McMullen’s 96 runs from 50 balls as Scotland posted 245-2 after being asked to bat first by Italy on Monday. Hairs has been in excellent form and took the Player of the Match Award.
With such a large total to defend against Italy, Scotland used their time in the field to ensure that all of the bowling attack got some overs in. Mark Watt, who has had an excellent tournament, only bowled one over and should be fresh and ready to cause Austria’s batters plenty of problems.
Before this tournament, Scotland had not played any T20Is since last October but have now won three in a row.

After losing their first three games heavily, it did not get any better for Austria on Monday as they were thrashed by 8 wickets against Denmark, who had been their nearest challengers in the table. The gap in quality of the players between Austria and Scotland is expected to be very large.
Only three Austrian players posted scores in double figures on Monday against a not overly impressive Danish bowling attack. It was Armaan Randhawa, who had made single–figure scores in his previous three innings, who top scored for Austria.
22 year old Amit Nathwani and 25 year old Umair Tariq briefly gave Austria hope of defending their total of 97-9 on Monday as they reduced Denmark to 2-1 and then 14-2 inside the opening two overs. Abdullah Akbarjan’s experienced spin bowling could be very useful in this game.
Austria continue to record defeats by large margins in this tournament and have now lost four T20Is in a row.
Navin Wijesekara, Iqbal Hossain, Razmal Shigiwal (c), Armaan Randhawa, Shahil Momin, Mehar Cheema (wk), Jaweed Sadran, Umair Tariq, Abdullah Akbarjan, Sahel Zadran, Amit Nathwani
This has been a real hard experience for Austria over their four games so far in the tournament and we do not expect it to get any easier against an in-form Scotland playing in home conditions. Our prediction is for Scotland to dominate with bat and ball and to beat Austria by another large margin.
