South Africa Team News & Playing 11
SA Team News
After his match-winning return to the ODI set-up in the second match of the series, Dale Steyn is likely to continue for South Africa. He was one of two players to come in for the second game, with Khaya Zondo in for Willem Mulder in the other change. Mulder and Kagiso Rabada could return, however, as competition for World Cup places heats up. With Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis ruled out of this series and Quinton de Kock and David Miller rested, the batsmen will have another chance to stake their claim for a spot in the World Cup squad, meanwhile.
SA Key Players
Imran Tahir was the stand-out bowler in the second ODI against Zimbabwe, claiming six wickets from six overs, including a hat-trick. It followed his figures of 2-23 in the first ODI.
South Africa’s pace attack boasts strength in depth now Dale Steyn has returned, meanwhile. The 35-year-old hit 60 with the bat and claimed 2-19 from six overs with the ball. He played in place of Kagiso Rabada, who had claimed 2-34 in the opening game, while Lungi Ngidi took 3-19 in the first game and 1-26 last time out.
The batsmen have been unable to show their strengths to quite the same extent in this series, but Heinrich Klaasen hit a run-a-ball 44 in the first match. Reeza Hendricks hit a century on his ODI debut against Sri Lanka, meanwhile, and will be keen to replicate that form having not passed five in his four ODI innings since then.
SA Team Form
South Africa have bounced back to winning ways in their last two ODI series, having lost 5-1 in a six-match series against India prior to them.
Against Sri Lanka, they won their first three matches to seal series victory before the hosts restored some pride by winning the next two matches. JP Duminy hit 227 runs in the five-game series to claim the Player of the Series award, while Lungi Ngidi took ten wickets.
This time out, meanwhile, it has been their bowlers impressing – Imran Tahir currently leading the way with eight wickets in the two victories against Zimbabwe.
South Africa Predicted Playing 11

Zimbabwe Team News & Playing 11
ZIM Team News
Zimbabwe made just the one change for the second ODI, with Donald Tiripano in for Wellington Masakadza. With Brendan Taylor, Craig Ervine and Sean Williams back in the international set-up, they may stick with a similar line-up despite their two defeats so far.
ZIM Key Players
Captain Hamilton Masakadza has made plenty of starts in recent ODIs, and will hope to build on scores of 22, 34, 25 and 27 in his last four ODI innings. He has hit 34 ODI half-centuries and five centuries in total, having made his 200th appearance in the format in the most recent game in this series.
Masakadza’s experience is key, as is Brendan Taylor’s. He hit a century against West Indies back in March, during the World Cup qualifier, and was one of the stand-out performers in that competition.
Kyle Jarvis’ return from injury is a further boost, and he looked back to his best in claiming 2-26 from ten overs in the second ODI. Tendai Chatara is their leading bowler so far in the series with five wickets, meanwhile, and ten in his last five ODIs.
ZIM Team Form
Since narrowly missing out on World Cup qualification when they hosted the World Cup qualifier back in March – losing their final games to the West Indies and the UAE, the latter by just three runs in a rain-affected match in Harare – Zimbabwe have lost all seven ODIs they have played.
They were whitewashed by Pakistan, including being bowled out for 107 and 67 in two matches, conceding 399/1 in the fourth game and only completing their 50 overs once – on their way to a 131-run defeat in the final match. And they are now fighting to avoid another ODI whitewashing after losing their first two games against South Africa, scoring just 117 and 78 in their two innings so far.
Zimbabwe Predicted Playing 11
Solomon Mire, Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Peter Moor, Elton Chigumbura, Donald Tripano, Brandon Mavuta, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara
