  Pradeep Gangappa captains the Vandals, while Umesh Gunathilake boasts international experience. The extra 0.5 credits might be worth saving though, as the latter – as good as he is behind the stumps – is not particularly prominent with the bat.

• Batsmen

  Sabawoon Davizi is ten credits but he is really an all-rounder and he is worth that and so much more in truth. He is a must-pick and he will be key with bat and ball. His cost can be balanced by team-mate Andrew Sim too, who is eight credits – but at least one eight-credit pick will be needed to balance the star players. Of the specialist batsmen, Somesekhar Banerjee will open the batting and Jahanur Hoque is up the order for their respective teams.

  Honey Gori is ten credits but just as important as Davizi to the Vandals. He and fellow Czech international Naveed Ahmed should both be selected at ten credits. Tripurari Kanhya Lal is nine credits but also a top-quality all-rounder who could open the batting for the Rangers.

• Bowlers:

  With three players at ten credits, if you want 9.5-credit Rahat Ali too – and his bowling form is good enough to justify it – you need a cheaper option with him. That means no place for Sagar Madhireddy but Sandeep Tiwari and Kushaga Bhatnagar could be key options to allow room for Ali.

• Captain/vice-captain

  Sabawoon Davizi and Honey Gori are the stand-out players ahead of this Championship Weekend. As good as the likes of Naveed Ahmed and Tripurari Khanya Lal can also be, there is no looking past the Vandals’ opening batsmen and bowlers.
