Pakistan are favorites to win
Pakistan will take on England at the National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi. The third and final Test of the series gets underway at 10:00 local time on Saturday 17th December.
Five Pakistan players have now made their debuts during this Test series after spinner Abrar Ahmed did so during the Second Test in Multan. We do not anticipate any first caps in this game which Babar Azam’s side must not lose to avoid a 3-0 whitewash in the series.
Captain Babar Azam has an excellent record in Test cricket in Karachi and hit 196 in his last appearance here against Australia in March 2022. Saud Shakeel has been very impressive for Pakistan throughout the series, hitting half-centuries in each of his last three innings and will be targeting his first Test century in this match.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed had a first Test appearance to remember in Multan where he took 11 wickets across the game and seven in the first innings alone. He should get more turn on this wicket and we expect him to cause plenty of problems for England’s batters again.
Pakistan have not won a Test at home all year and have won only one of seven Tests in 2022.
Before this series began, England had only won two Test Matches in Pakistan but they have now won four in total. With five days from the end of the Multan Test to this game, and with no injuries in the side, we expect to see the same XI in this match.
The two standout batters for England across this series have been opener Ben Duckett, who has scored a century and two half-centuries, and Harry Brook, who has hit two centuries from number five in the batting order. Joe Root has gone five Tests without a century and will be keen to end the run in Karachi.
England will be looking for more control from their spin bowlers in this Test after Joe Root, Will Jacks and Jack Leach were all expensive at times in Multan. Leach and Root still picked up wickets and will have big roles to play, alongside the quick bowlers, in this Test.
England are looking to register their ninth Test win of 2022 after winning eight of their last nine games in this format.
The match will be played at the National Bank Cricket Arena, Karachi. The pitch will be good for batting on throughout the Test but we expect to see plenty of spin from Day 1 onwards.

Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Agha Salman, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Zahid Mahmood, Mohammad Ali, Abrar Ahmed

It has been a very good series from England so far and they have performed to a high level with both bat and ball in Rawalpindi and Multan. Pakistan’s bowlers have struggled to keep England’s batters’ run-rate down but we expect the pitch in Karachi to help their spinners to do that in this Test. We are predicting a close match with Pakistan getting the win.
