New Zealand can double their series lead when they take on South Africa in the second match of this five-game WT20i series – which is serving as a warm-up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The match takes place at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on February 6 and is scheduled to start at 14:00 local time.
The hosts were in dominant form in the first game of the series as both Leigh Kasperek and Amelia Kerr took 2-17 from their four overs to help limit South Africa to 116/7. In reply, Sophie Devine continued her supreme form with another half-century – hitting 54* from 32 balls as New Zealand took just 12.2 overs to wrap up a nine-wicket win.
It was in stark contrast to the ODI series which preceded this one, which South Africa surprisingly won 3-0, and New Zealand are now big favourites to rack up a big series win to build momentum ahead of the World Cup.
