New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

NZ Team News

New Zealand opted for an unchanged team last time out but could have Jimmy Neesham, Doug Bracewell and Blair Tickner in their squad if they want to make changes for the final match. Scott Kuggeleijn has been wicketless so far in this series and could be replaced by Neesham or Bracewell.

NZ Key Players

Tim Seifert was New Zealand’s star man in the first match of the series, as he hammered 84 runs from 43 balls. Both he and Colin Munro will want to get back to the form they showed at the top of the order to set the tone for that win.

In the middle order, Ross Taylor hit 42 from 36 balls last time out, to follow up his quick-fire 23 in the first game. Taylor has been in superb form in limited overs cricket, scoring stacks of runs against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India.

Colin de Grandhomme hit a half-century last time out, meanwhile, off 28 balls, while players such as Doug Bracewell and Jimmy Neesham could also provide late-order runs if they earn recalls to the starting XI.

Lockie Ferguson has taken six wickets in his last three T20 internationals, meanwhile – including 2-22 in the first game. Tim Southee led the way with 3-17 from four overs in that game, while Ish Sodhi followed his 2-26 in the first match with 1-31 last time out. Sodhi, like Ferguson, has six wickets across his last three T20 internationals.

NZ Team Form

New Zealand lost their last full T20I series 3-0 to Pakistan but had bounced back by winning a one-off game against Sri Lanka before this series.

They pushed Pakistan close in the UAE, in the first two games at least, but finished two runs short of Pakistan’s 148/6 in the opening game and then lost the second with two balls remaining. They were bowled out for 119 in the third match, however.

Against Sri Lanka, Doug Bracewell (44) and Scott Kuggeleijn (35*) scored runs down the order as they posted 179/7, while Lockie Ferguson and Ish Sodhi both claimed three wickets as the tourists were bowled out for 144.

Tim Seifert ensured they backed that up with victory in the opening game of this series, but India hit back last time out to ensure it is all to play for at Hamilton.

New Zealand Predicted Playing 11

Tim Seifert, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Ross Taylor, Colin de Grandhomme, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson

India Team News & Playing 11

IND Team News

India were rewarded for keeping faith with the same team that lost so heavily in the first match, for the second game. They could still look to make changes for the third, however, with Kuldeep Yadav yet to feature in this series and Yuzvendra Chahal proving expensive last time out. Hardik Pandya’s place could also be under threat after returning expensive figures of 2-51 and 1-36 so far. Siddarth Kaul is an option to bring in. Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have both been rested for this series.

IND Key Players

Stand-in captain Rohit Sharma’s 29-ball 50 in the second game was his 16th in T20 internationals, and he has also hit four centuries. He was also in good form in the ODI series.

Shikhar Dhawan has also been in good nick, sharing a 79-run partnership with Sharma last time out. He has scored 29 and 30 in his two innings in this series having also been key with the bat in the series with Australia too.

Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 40 from 28 balls was a reminder of his capabilities last time out, meanwhile. Pant was the leading Indian run scorer in last year’s IPL.

With the ball, Krunal Pandya took five wickets in the series with Australia and followed that up with 3-28 from his four overs in the second match of this series. Kuldeep Yadav took wickets in the ODI series, meanwhile, and could return to the T20 side for this series decider and final match of Ind tour of NZ

IND Team Form

India are unbeaten in their last nine T20 series (including one-off matches), having not lost since a defeat to West Indies in a one-off game in 2017. Among the teams they have beaten since then are Sri Lanka, South Africa and England, but they drew their most recent series – against Australia in November.

India lost their first match by just four runs, despite Shikhar Dhawan scoring 76 from 42 balls in a rain-revised chase of 174 from 17 overs and rain ruined the second game too – Australia were 132/7 from 19 overs when play was halted.

India hit back in the third match to maintain their unbeaten run, however. Krunal Pandya took 4-36 as Australia posted 164/6 and Virat Kohli led the batting with an unbeaten 61 in a six-wicket win.

India Predicted Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Krunal Pandya, Siddharth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed

New Zealand vs India Head to Head

India’s victory in the second match of this series was their third in the ten previous games they have played against New Zealand. Their other two wins were in the most recent series between them, however – a 2-1 series triumph in November 2017. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan batted India to victory in the first of those games and, after Colin Munro’s century helped New Zealand level the series, India won a rain-reduced eight-over game to claim series victory in the decider.

This time out, Tim Seifert was New Zealand’s star man with 84 at the top of the order in the first game – India’s 80-run defeat their heaviest in terms of runs in T20 cricket – but the tourists hit back as Rohit Sharma’s breezy half-century helped them to a seven-wicket win last time out.

New Zealand vs India Betting Odds

India are unbeaten in their last nine T20 international series and they are 1.66 with Bet365 to win this series decider to extend that run to ten. New Zealand are a best price of 2.20 by contrast.

Rohit Sharma led the way last time out and he is 3.25 to be India’s top batsman again in this decider. Another player worth looking at could be Rishabh Pant, who is 4.50 with Bet365.

For New Zealand, Ross Taylor is 5.50 despite his good recent form to be their top batsman with Bet365. His lower-order batting position does not help his cause, which is why Kane Williamson is favourite at a best price of 3.75.

🏆 New Zealand vs India Prediction

India hit back in the second match of this three-game series and suddenly the momentum is with the tourists ahead of this decider.
