Who will win New Zealand vs England, 2nd T20 2019?
Jahanara Alam (vc), Khadija Tul Kubra, Sadia Iqbal, England will look to back up their opening-game win as the two 50-over World Cup finalists continue their T20i series with the second match of the series. The game, at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium, takes place on November 3 and gets underway at 14:00 local time.
England won the opening game of the series by seven wickets, with James Vince leading the way. He hit 59 from 38 balls as England chased 154 to win with nine balls to spare. Pat Brown, Sam Curran and Lewis Gregory all made their T20i debuts.
New Zealand have also rested a couple of players, and paid for not kicking the run rate up enough – Tom Curran even bowled a maiden over early on. Ross Taylor top-scored, but Colin Munro showed form in the warm-up game to suggest New Zealand are fully capable of bouncing straight back.

NZ vs ENG Toss Prediction
England won the toss and elected to field first in the opening game and New Zealand could take a similar decision if they were to win the toss this time.
NZ vs ENG Weather Report
Nothing but clear skies and sun are forecast in Wellington on Sunday, with temperatures touching 20 degrees Celsius. As ever at the Westpac, however, wind could become a factor.
NZ vs ENG Pitch Condition
Wellington’s drop-in pitch has had its problems, and if previous wickets are an example then this one could be two-paced with a variable bounce.

New Zealand Team News & Playing 11
NZ Team News
With Kane Williamson out with a hip injury and Trent Boult rested for the first three T20i matches, Tim Southee leads the Black Caps and Lockie Ferguson will open the bowling with him again. Jimmy Neesham and Blair Tickner were the two unused players, but Daryl Mitchell batted well enough to retain his place and it could be an unchanged team despite the opening defeat.
NZ Key Players
Colin Munro: Hammered an unbeaten century in the final warm-up game and the big-hitting opener will want to get back to that form – he averages 31.67 in T20i cricket with a strike rate of 159.93.
Mitchell Santner: His three wickets in the first game, as well as making him by far the leading New Zealand bowler at Christchurch, was his second consecutive three-wicket haul in T20i cricket. He now has 41 wickets at an average of 19.75 in the format.
Martin Guptill: Could not get going in the first match but it would be foolish to right off the big-hitting opener. His T20i record of 14 50s and two 100s, with a strike rate of 132, is evidence of that.
NZ Team Form
New Zealand won their previous T20i series against Sri Lanka, having beaten India at the start of the year too, but defeat in the first game of this series means they have now lost their last two T20i matches. Ross Taylor top-scored with 44 and Daryl Mitchell’s late hitting lifted New Zealand to 153/5, but they paid for their slow scoring in the middle overs as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat.
New Zealand Predicted Playing 11
Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Tim Siefert (wk), Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Scott Kuggeleijn, Tim Southee (c), Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson
England Team News & Playing 11
ENG Team News
England have toured with an inexperienced squad, and handed T20i debuts to Sam Curran, Pat Brown and Lewis Gregory in the first game. Gregory was unused with bat and ball, however. Tom Banton, Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Parkinson are the other uncapped players in the squad, but England may integrate them later in the tour. Parkinson will be on standby if Adil Rashid’s injury troubles re-occur, however.
ENG Key Players
Chris Jordan: This is a big tour for the Barbados-born all-rounder, who knows his T20 form has been inconsistent of late. He took 2-28 in the first game of the series, however, and needs one more wicket to move to 50 in T20i cricket.
James Vince: Showed what he is capable of with the bat when he hit seven fours and two sixes on his way to his first T20i half-century. Overall in T20 cricket, the Hampshire opener – who was in good form in the T20 Blast – has hit 33 50s and one unbeaten century.
Eoin Morgan: The England captain, who finished the T20 Blast with scores of 83* and 53 for Middlesex, hit an unbeaten 34 from 21 balls to complete victory in the opening game and prove his continued form with the bat.
ENG Team Form
England only played one T20i in the summer, with the focus on first the World Cup and the Ashes instead. They won it, however – Eoin Morgan hit an unbeaten 57 from 29 balls in a seven-wicket defeat of Pakistan.
Victory in the opening game of this series, with James Vince’s half-century leading the way, means England have now won six T20i matches in a row. They last lost in 2018, when India claimed a 2-1 series win on English soil.
England Predicted Playing 11
Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, James Vince, Eoin Morgan (c), Sam Billings (wk), Sam Curran, Lewis Gregory, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Pat Brown
New Zealand vs England Head to Head
England’s win in the first game of this series was their 11th in 17 previous T20i matches against New Zealand. Prior to this series, in which James Vince’s half-century led England to a seven-wicket opening win, they had each beaten each other once in the Trans-Tasman T20i Tri-Series in February 2018. New Zealand defended 196/5 to win the first game by 12 runs, but England hit back in the second – posting 194/7 thanks to Eoin Morgan’s 80* from 46 balls, and holding their nerve to win by two runs despite Colin Munro and Martin Guptill each hitting 50.
