NZ vs RSA Betting Tips

  • Daryl Mitchell scored 54 runs from 51 balls in Match 27 against Australia and will come into this match in Pune with an ODI batting average of 51.80. Alongside a score of 48 against the Netherlands, the 32 year old has also hit 89 not out and 130 in this tournament. We are backing Mitchell to be New Zealand’s highest run scorer against South Africa. Trent Boult took 3-77 in the defeat on Saturday and the left-arm fast medium bowler has taken 8 wickets from the last four games. He has picked up 206 ODI wickets across his career at an average of 23.90 and a strike-rate of 28.9. Boult is our tip for New Zealand’s top wicket taker in this clash.
  • Aiden Markram scored 91 runs from 93 balls against Pakistan in Match 26 and has been in brilliant form with one hundred and three half-centuries in the competition so far. He comes into this game with an average of 73.36 and a strike-rate of 121.17 from his last 13 ODIs. Markram is our pick for South Africa’s highest run scorer in this game. Marco Jansen has had an excellent tournament so far with his 13 wickets coming every 21.69 deliveries. The 23 year old will swing the ball at the start of the innings with the new ball and is yet to take less than 2 wickets in every game in the campaign. We expect Jansen to be South Africa’s top wicket taker against New Zealand.
  • Due to his pace, height and control, Marco Jansen has caused plenty of problems in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. We recommend backing Jansen to take over 1.5 wickets in this ODI.

NZ vs SA ODI Match Prediction & Betting Tips, Cricket World Cup 2023

New Zealand and South Africa go head to head in Match 32 of the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Pune on Wednesday. The Black Caps got off to an excellent start to the season but have been beaten by India by 4 wickets with 12 balls remaining and Australia by 5 runs across their last two matches. South Africa suffered the surprise defeat against the Netherlands in Match 15 but have since beaten England by 229 runs, Bangladesh 149 runs and Pakistan by 1 wicket on Friday. Read on as we preview this match. The day-night clash begins in Pune at 14:00 local time.

The fixtures in the tournament always meant that New Zealand would have a run of tougher games towards the end of the group stage. However, they were very close to beating Australia in the last match and we expect them to push South Africa all the way in this match.

South Africa remain one of the top teams in the tournament with plenty of pundits tipping them to go all the way. They have shown an ability to brush aside weaker sides but also showed character against Pakistan in their last match. We expect them to be very hard to beat once again in this fixture.

NZ vs SA Match Toss Prediction

Three of the last four ODIs in Pune have been won by the team batting second with both of the last games won by 7 wickets. As a result, we expect both skippers to choose to field first if they win the toss.

NZ vs SA Pitch Report

There was a slight feeling of uneven bounce on the surface at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Monday’s match. Any first innings score of 270+ will be very competitive in this game.

AFG roped in pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi in the last match here and he picked 4 wickets. Fast bowlers will get some help from the pitch.

Pune Weather Report

Once again in Pune, humidity is not expected to increase much over the match. The weather will be sunny with the temperature over 32 degrees for the first few hours of the game.

New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

New Zealand Team News

After keeping pace with Australia across the entire game in Dharamsala, New Zealand were beaten by 5 runs in their last match so we are not expecting wholesale changes. However, we predict that Tim Southee will come into the side and replace Matt Henry.

New Zealand Team Key Players

  • Daryl Mitchell - Although he will have been disappointed to not convert his fifty into a hundred against Australia, the right-handed batting all-rounder remains in fantastic form.
  • Rachin Ravindra - The 23 year old has been one of the standout performers in the Cricket World Cup 2023 and he hit his second century of the tournament in the last match.
  • Devon Conway - Conway is a fine batsman at the top order and he started off the campaign on a positive note but failed in the last few innings. He has scored 277 runs so far at a strike rate of 100+ and we are backing him to score runs in this match.

Devon Conway 28 27 1151 152* 47.95 89.50 5 3
  • Mitchell Santner - The left-arm spin bowling all-rounder was expensive against Australia but he has been unable to stop taking wickets in this competition. He dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne on Saturday.
  • Trent Boult - The experienced left-arm swing bowler took the wickets of Josh Inglis, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa in the last game and 3 more wickets in this game will bring up 600 international wickets.

South Africa Team News & Playing 11

South Africa Team News

Kagiso Rabada missed the tense victory on Friday over Pakistan due to a back injury and we do not expect him to be risked for this match. There was already a strong team spirit in the Proteas squad but that will have gone up a level after the 1 wicket win in Match 26.

South Africa Team Key Players

  • Aiden Markram - Ahead of Tuesday’s game, only four players have scored more runs in this tournament. The 29 year old hit seven fours and three sixes in his crucial innings against Pakistan.
  • Quinton de Kock - The experienced keeper-batter made 24 runs from 14 balls in the last match and has hit three centuries already in the 2023 Cricket World Cup including the highest score of 174.
  • Heinrich Klaasen - Klaasen has been showing world-class performances in this World Cup. He is one of the best players for spin bowlers. Klaasen has scored 300 runs so far at an impressive strike rate of 149.25.

South Africa Key Batsmen Stats

Player Mat (ODI) Inns Runs HS Ave SR 100s 50s

Heinrich Klaasen 47 44 1623 174 42.71 117.09 4 6
  • Marco Jansen - The left-arm pace bowling all-rounder is in great form and dismissed both openers in Friday’s game before coming back later in the innings to take the wicket of Mohammad Nawaz.
  • Tabraiz Shamsi - The left-arm wrist spinner looked to be back to his best in the last game. Across his two appearances in the tournament he has combined figures of 6-98.

New Zealand vs South Africa Betting Odds

Who will win New Zealand vs South Africa ODI Match?

Both teams come into this match off the back of very close contests. It will be interesting to see how both sets of players respond but overall we think there are more match-winners in the South Africa side.

NZ vs SA Top Team Batsmen

We recommend Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell with the bat for New Zealand. Left-handed opener Conway has seen his ODI batting average fall below 48 after a run of scores without going past 45 in his last five innings. However, he has already hit 152 not out in this tournament. Right-handed opener Young averages 41.29 from 27 innings and hit successive half-centuries against the Netherlands and Afghanistan earlier this month. With captain Kane Williamson a week or so away from a return, Young will need a run of big scores to retain his place.

For South Africa, Heinrich Klaasen, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock are our batting picks. Powerful middle-order batter Klaasen struck a six in his 10-ball 12 against Pakistan and has been one of the standout players in the tournament with 300 runs to his name already. The 32 year old averages 42.71 with a strike-rate of 117.09 in ODIs. van der Dussen is another South African batter with a remarkable ODI average at 53.69 from 49 innings. He scored 108 in the opening fixture of the competition but is due another big score after making only one additional half-century from his last five innings.

NZ vs NZ Top Team Bowlers

Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson are our bowling choices for New Zealand. Southee has not played a competitive game since mid-September when he injured his thumb against England at Lord’s but he is fully fit right now. The 34 year old has taken 214 ODI wickets with best figures of 7-33 in this format. Lockie Ferguson will have seen how the pace bowlers enjoyed the conditions in Pune on Monday and will be keen to get back amongst the wickets after going wicketless against Australia. Ferguson took 8 wickets from the previous three matches in the tournament.

Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Tabraiz Shamsi and Lungi Ngidi are our tips with the ball for South Africa. Coetzee is another young South African bowler who has caught the eye in this tournament. He bowls with real aggression alongside pace and has taken 12 wickets from only five matches. Ngidi has taken 85 ODI wickets since making his debut in this format in February 2018 and the 27 year old right-arm fast medium bowler needs only four dismissals in this game to bring up 200 international wickets.

🏆 New Zealand vs South Africa Prediction

Both of these teams have been responsible for impressive wins in the tournament and been involved in very tight games. There is also the chance that this could be the two teams in the final of the competition and they both have more than enough talent to make it through to the last two sides. Our prediction is for a close game on Wednesday with New Zealand managing to keep up with South Africa’s aggressive batting and matching them with the ball. We expect the game to go until the final overs but for South Africa to narrowly win
