New Zealand Team News & Playing 11

The hosts are sweating over the fitness of Ross Taylor who injured his leg while batting in the fourth ODI at Dunedin. He struck a magnificent 181 not-out to guide New Zealand to victory and the team will be hoping that he is able to take the field for the series decider. Apart from him, the Kiwis rely heavily on Kane Williamson and Tom Latham who scored 45 and 71 respectively in the last game. Trent Boult (8 wickets in 4 matches) and Ish Sodhi (9 wickets in 3 matches) are the top two bowlers of the series. Sodhi claimed a four-fer last time and given England's issues with leg-spin, he is expected to have yet another good day with the ball.

New Zealand Predicted Playing 11

  • Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor/Mark Chapman, Tim Southee, Martin Guptill, Colin de Grandhomme, Colin Munro, Trent Boult, Tom Latham (wk), Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, Henry Nicholls

England Team News & Playing 11

The visitors have been consistent with the bat right through the series with Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes all having made sizeable contributions. Root and Bairstow - the two centurions for England in the fourth game - are amongst the leading run-getters in the series and the team will be counting on them to produce similar knocks in this crunch contest. The pace attack has been ably led by Chris Woakes (7 wickets in 4 matches) and Tom Curran. Though the latter doesn't have too many wickets to show for his efforts, his subtle pace variations is what has made him the go-to man for skipper Morgan in the death overs.

England Predicted Playing 11

  • Eoin Morgan (c), Adil Rashid, Jos Buttler (wk), Jonny Bairstow, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Joe Root, Mark Wood, Tom Curran

New Zealand vs England 5th ODI Betting Odds

Even after having lost the last match which they should have won, England start off as favorites amongst the bookmakers to win the fifth and final one-day international at odds of 1.77 on Betfair, 1.70 on Unibet, 1.67 on Ladbrokes and 1.72 each on Bet365 and Betway. New Zealand, despite having won all eight ODIs they have played at this ground, are the bookmakers' underdogs for this game at a higher price of 2.26 on Betfair, 2.15 on Unibet, 2.20 on Ladbrokes and 2.10 each on Bet365 and Betway.

New Zealand vs England 5th ODI Prediction

England will be very disappointed with themselves as they botched up an excellent opportunity to seal the series in the last game itself. After setting a huge target of 336, they had New Zealand by the scruff of their neck by removing two of their batsmen for just two runs on the board. But they let the game slip away once Ross Taylor arrived at the crease. Another major concern for them would be the late-innings collapse they had while batting. From being 267-1, the visitors slumped to 288-7 - losing six wickets for just 21 runs.

As for the hosts, they will be all pumped up after their dramatic win at Dunedin. However, it will be a big blow to their chances if Taylor doesn't recover in time as their batting in this series has revolved mainly around him and Kane Williamson. New Zealand do have a pristine ODI record at the Hagley Oval, but England have looked superior for most part of the series which is why we predict them to prevail in this final game.

Final Verdict: Back England to beat New Zealand at 1.77 on 1xbet, 1.70 on Unibet, 1.67 on 10Cric and 1.72 each on Bet365 and Betway.
