Singapore are favorites to win
Resurgent Namibia can seal their ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier play-off place if they beat Singapore in their final match in Group A. The match, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, takes place on October 26 and gets underway at 19:30 local time.
Namibia have bounced back from two defeats to win their last three games – victory against Kenya last time out putting them on the brink of the play-offs as Bernard Scholtz claimed 4-12 with the ball in a dominant win.
Singapore, on the other hand, stunned Singapore and then beat Bermuda in their first two games, but defeat to Papua New Guinea last time out was their third in a row and leaves them needing a big win to stand any chance of a play-off place.
Namibia have won the toss in their last three consecutive games so they are due to lose this one. Dubai is a bat-first wicket, as Singapore learned to their cost last time out.
As expected, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium has produced some excellent batting wickets – particularly for teams batting first.

Namibia have used the same team for all three wins, with Stephan Baard growing back into his role at the top of the order nicely. Having found their winning formula, Namibia are unlikely to change things.
Stephan Baard: Returned to the team for the win against Scotland and Namibia have promptly been unbeaten since. He hit his fourth T20i half-century last time out – a measured 51 from 39 balls at the top of the order.
Christi Viljoen: Moved to seven wickets in the tournament when he claimed excellent figures of 1-14 – including 12 dot balls – last time out against Kenya.
Bernard Scholtz: Took a back-seat to Jan Frylinck and Christi Viljoen early on, but figures of 3-17 and 4-12 in the last two games ensures his bowling prowess is now well known. He now has 17 wickets in ten T20i appearances.
Victory against Kenya last time out, with Stephan Baard and captain Gerhard Erasmus hitting half-centuries, before Bernard Scholtz claimed 4-12 with the ball, was Namibia’s third in a row. They started the turnaround by beating Scotland – Jan Frylinck claiming 2-15 as they restricted Scotland to 135/8 in reply to Namibia’s 159/6.
Scholtz then took 3-17 as they restricted Bermuda to 106/9, on their way to a comprehensive six-wicket win, before victory against Kenya left them needing one more win to seal a play-off place.

Singapore handed a T20i debut to Avi Dixit last time out, but his one over was expensive. They have tended to keep changes to a minimum, however, so Dixit could be handed another chance in this final group game. Eight of the 11 have been unchanged so far.
Surendran Chandramohan: Run-out without facing a ball last time out – a huge blow given he has three T20i half-centuries to his name already, including against Scotland at the start of this tournament and against Zimbabwe in their warm-up series.
Tim David: The 23-year-old top-scored for Singapore in a losing cause last time out, but at least it was a sign he is getting back to the consistent form he showed against Nepal and Zimbabwe in Singapore’s Tri-Nation Series.
Amjad Mahboob: The Singapore captain has been expensive with the ball, but he has at least taken seven wickets so far in this tournament to move to 16 in ten T20i appearances.
Singapore won their first two games, against Scotland and Bermuda, but they have lost three in a row since. The turning point was being bowled out for 101 by the Netherlands, which was followed by a seven-wicket defeat to Kenya despite scoring 157/9. Last time out, they were set 181 to beat Papua New Guinea but could only muster 137/9 in reply.
NAM vs SIN
Namibia and Singapore are meeting in a full T20 international for the first time.
Namibia have been priced as outsiders to beat Singapore, which could prove costly for the bookmakers considering their resurgent form.
Namibia have won three matches in a row to put themselves firmly in contention for the play-offs and they can carry that momentum into this game, against out-of-form Singapore, to seal the deal.
