Namibia Team News & Playing 11
NAM Team News
Namibia stuck with the same team that beat Scotland to see off Bermuda last time out and, having found this winning formula, it could be the same combination again. Stephan Baard and Ben Shikongo had a bigger impact on the last match too, having both been brought in for the Scotland match.
NAM Key Players
Jan Frylinck: Took 1-20 last time out to move to nine wickets in four games so far; his performances have been central to Namibia’s form so far, though his batting has barely been required.
Christi Viljoen: Took 2-27 last time out to claim his 14th and 15th T20 international wickets in his seventh game. It is now three matches in a row the Otago all-rounder has claimed two wickets in this tournament.
Niko Davin: Hit 23 from 17 balls in the win against Scotland and then hammered two fours and four sixes on his way to 37 from 12 last time out. If he can turn one of these starts into a big score, it could set Namibia well on the way to a massive score.
NAM Team Form
After being bowled out for 96 and 116 in their first two matches, Namibia have roared back to form, which started with their win against Scotland. JJ Smit’s 43 from 22 balls lifted them to 159/6 before Jan Frylinck’s 2-15 restricted Scotland to 135/8 in reply.
Last time out, against Bermuda, they restricted them to 106/9. As soon as Niko Davin smashed 37 from 12 balls at the start of the reply, a second Namibian win was never in doubt. They eventually won by six wickets with 41 balls to spare.
