Namibia are favorites to win

Who will win Namibia vs Bermuda, T20 WCQ 2019?

Namibia will look to put themselves firmly in the play-off picture when they take on winless Bermuda in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in Dubai. The match, at the ICC Academy Ground No2, takes place on October 23 and gets underway at 10:00.

Namibia lost their first two matches, despite Jan Frylinck’s good bowling form, but he took 2-15 against Scotland last time out as they pulled off a shock win that gives them a real chance of mounting a late push for the play-offs.

They are certainly favourites against Bermuda, who have lost three from three so far and have been bowled out for 89 and 93 in two of those matches. They sit bottom of the group as a result.

NAM vs BER Toss Prediction

Namibia won the toss for the first time against Scotland, and elected to bat first – which looks like it would be a good tactic at Academy Ground No2 too.

NAM vs BER Weather Report

Temperatures will be rapidly rising throughout the morning in Dubai – starting out at 29 degrees, it will be hot, dry and sunny from the off, albeit humid too.

NAM vs BER Pitch Condition

The ICC Academy Ground No2 is definitely more of a batsman’s wicket compared to some of the more balanced pitches on show in this tournament.

Namibia Team News & Playing 11

NAM Team News

While their individual impacts on the game were minimal, Stephan Baard and Ben Shikongo – who replaced Zhivago Groenewald and Pikky Ya France in a more batsman-heavy line-up – are likely to retain their places after Namibia won for the first time against Scotland.

NAM Key Players

Jan Frylinck: His excellent bowling form saw him claim three wickets apiece in the first two matches, while his 2-15 last time out – including 13 dot balls and just one boundary – were crucial to Namibia’s win.

Christi Viljoen: Two wickets in each of the last two matches, having been a key figure in the Africa Region Final qualifier, have helped move the Otago bowler to 13 wickets in six T20 internationals.

Niko Davin: Still yet to go really deep with the bat in this tournament, but his 23 from 17 balls last time out set a good early tempo and laid the platform for Namibia’s middle order to build upon.

NAM Team Form

Namibia lost their two opening matches by big margins. They were bowled out for 96 chasing 141 to beat the Netherlands, before they folded for 116 in reply to Papua New Guinea’s 197/7. A vast improvement last time out, batting first, saw them post 159/6 against Scotland, however. JJ Smit top-scored with 43 from 22 balls. In reply, Jan Frylinck’s 2-15 helped limit Scotland to 135/8 as they claimed a notable win.

Namibia Predicted Playing 11

Stephan Baard, JP Kotze, Niko Davin, Craig Williams, Gerhard Erasmus (c), JJ Smit, Zane Green (wk), Christi Viljoen, Jan Frylinck, Ben Shikongo, Bernard Scholtz

NAM vs BER Dream11 Team Prediction, Captain, Vice Captain

Wicket-keepers

The wicket-keeping options are slim at best. Okera Bascome is behind the stumps for Bermuda, while Zane Green does the job for Namibia. JP Kotze is also listed for Namibia. Bascombe and Kotze both bat up the order, but neither has done well so far. Kotze may change that as Namibia look to back up their victory last time out, however.

Batsmen

Two incorrectly listed all-rounders are the top picks when it comes to batsmen. Jan Frylinck has eight wickets to his name so far and so is a must pick – he was key to Namibia’s win last time out. Kamau Leverock’s bowling has been better than his batting too, but he too is listed as a batsman. Of the genuine batsmen, Niko Davin is starting to tick – another brief flurry last time out was another reminder of his big-hitting capabilities.

All-rounders

The fact Frylinck and Leverock are incorrectly listed is a bonus with so many good all-rounders on each team. Delray Rawlins is among the more expensive at 9.5 credits, while Janeiro Tucker may be almost twice his age but he has proved his all-round worth already too. He is nine credits. JJ Smit top-scored for Namibia last time out and is the highest-scoring all-rounder of the lot, while Christi Viljoen’s bowling makes him a better option than Craig Williams, who has batted well, when it comes to the two great-value listings at 8.5 credits. Other options include the captains, Dion Stovell and Gerhard Erasmus.

Bowlers

You may still need one Bermudan bowler at this point, but there is a choice of two – Rodney Trott and George O’Brien. In fact, with no reason to save credits and with Zhivago Groenwald and Pikky Ya France both dropped last time out, you may as well pick both. That leaves plenty spare for Bernard Scholtz – who has outscored all of the bowlers in this match in the Dream 11 so far.

Captain/vice-captain

With eight wickets in three games, Jan Frylinck has proved his worth for Namibia. He can bat too, though he has been less effective in that regard, but regardless his wicket-taking form makes him Dream 11 captaincy material. Another high-scoring all-rounder is JJ Smit, who would make a good vice-captain pick – particularly after his batting against Scotland.

Bermuda Team News & Playing 11

BER Team News

Janeiro Tucker made his T20i debut in the opening game and hit a half-century in the second, but there have been few other stand-out performers. Allan Douglas returned in place of Malachi Jones last time out and more changes would not be a surprise as Bermuda look to arrest their poor form.

BER Key Players

Kamau Leverock: Took two wickets in each of the two warm-up matches and then claimed 2-30 against Kenya last time out – his first two wickets in this tournament. He is also a handy lower-order pinch-hitter.

Delray Rawlins: The big-hitting Sussex all-rounder hit 25 in the opening game and 37 last time out as the 22-year-old continues to impress in T20 cricket.

Janeiro Tucker: The 44-year-old veteran of Bermuda’s 2007 Cricket World Cup campaign made his T20i debut in this tournament and then hammered an unbeaten half-century from 34 balls in the second match to prove he has still got it.

BER Team Form

Bermuda have lost three from three so far in this tournament. They were bowled out for 89 by Papua New Guinea and 93 by Kenya in defeats to both, either side of posting 149/7 against Singapore – thanks to Janeiro Tucker’s unbeaten half-century – but falling to a five-wicket defeat.

Bermuda Predicted Playing 11

Okera Bascombe (wk), Terryn Fray, Dion Stovell (c), Delray Rawlins, Janeiro Tucker, Deunte Darrell, Allan Douglas, Kamau Leverock, Malachi Jones, Rodney Trott, George O’Brien
