These are two heavyweight sides, one led by the greatest run-maker in IPL T20 history and the other led by one of the greatest batsmen the IPL has ever seen. Virat Kohli, the leading run scorer in the competition with 5878 runs, captains RCB; with Rohit Sharma, in fourth place on the all-time list with 5230 runs and four away from equalling MS Dhoni’s appearance record of 204, captaining the holders.
Both teams have other homegrown stars in their ranks. Mumbai Indians boast the Pandya brothers, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. Whereas in the RCB corner, they have Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj.
But the IPL would not be the same without its international stars and there will be plenty of top global players fighting for selection for both sides. We expect Ishan Kishan to come in for de Kock in IPL 2021 opener after he took to international cricket like a duck to water, winning the player of the match award after a 32-ball 56 on his T20I debut last month.

Trent Boult - The smiling assassin goes about his business in a likable manner, full of the understated charm we have come to expect from New Zealand players. Boult took 3-30, including the wicket of Marcus Stoinis from the first ball of the game, on his way to taking the player of the match award in last year’s final.

He has the third highest IPL individual score in history, 133* against Mumbai Indians in 2015, and a repeat of that could be just what RCB and the tournament requires.
Glenn Maxwell - Australia’s all-rounder has done the rounds of a few IPL franchises and duly signed for RCB for this year’s competition after they fought off CSK in a bidding war. He played the 2013 IPL for Mumbai Indians and may well have a point to prove.
