Most recently, he helped Trinbago Knight Riders win the Caribbean Premier League, scoring 43 in the play-off win against St Kitts & Nevis and 39 in the final against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Kevin O’Brien’s explosive batting makes him a danger man too, and he has continued to blaze a trail for Irish cricket this year, hitting a test century on his and his country’s test debut against Pakistan earlier in the summer.
With the ball, Tymal Mills will be one of the key bowlers, having helped Sussex to finish runners-up in the English t20 Blast with his fast bowling.

Nepalese bowler Sandeep Lamichhane is currently representing Nepal in the Asia World T20 qualifier. Ben Cutting is interim captain of the team – the only non-Afghan captain in this year’s tournament – while the team has a distinct Caribbean feel with Andre Russell, Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles among the overseas stars.

Two-time world champion Andre Russell has become a valuable all-rounder in the shortest format of the game, enjoying franchise success thanks to his explosive batting and pace bowling.
Russell had a strike rate of 196.38 in the recent Caribbean Premier League from nine innings, including his 121* from 49 balls against Trinbago Knight Riders, a match in which he had earlier claimed a hat-trick with the ball. He went on to take 14 wickets at an average of 20.
Zahir Khan plays on the back of helping Lancashire to the semi-finals of the English t20 Blast, meanwhile – the Afghanistan teenager having claimed nine wickets for the Red Rose county in seven matches.
Another of the Afghanistan players in the squad, Shafiqullah, was in good form earlier in the summer, meanwhile, hitting three half-centuries in four matches for the Kabul Region in the domestic one-day competition. And completing their strong ‘home’-based selection is 17-year-old Mujeeb Ur Rahman – named the rising star of Afghanistan’s squad by the ICC after his 17 wickets and match-winning bowling in the final during the recent ICC World Cup qualifier.
