Kabul Zwanan Team News & Playing 11

KZ Team News

Kabul Zwanan have tweaked their team regularly, with the latest match seeing Afsar Zazai bat and Younas Ahmadzai and Zahir Shehzad return to the team. Zazai replaced Javed Ahmadi in the starting XI, but his six from 13 balls suggests he will not be keeping his place. With the ball, Shehzad took 1-38 on his return, with Fitratullah Khawari, Shawkat Zaman and Zamir Khan all therefore missing out. Ali Khan has not featured since the first game, meanwhile - Kabul settling on an overseas quartet of Luke Ronchi, Colin Ingram, Laurie Evans and Wayne Parnell.

KZ Key Players

Hazratullah Zazai's batting have stolen the show at time in this APL. He hit 124 from 55 balls in a win against Nangarhar Leopards to post the tournament's first and, so far, only century before smashing six sixes in an over in the defeat to Balkh Legends. He has 287 runs in total and a phenomenal strike rate of 205.

Laurie Evans - the top scorer in the English t20 Blast this year - has also been in top form with the bat, and his 32 from 31 balls helped Kabul to victory last time out. Evans also hit three half-centuries in his first four games and has 260 runs in total from his seven innings so far.

Luke Ronchi passed 200 runs last time out too, meanwhile. His 14-ball 31 followed scores 47 and 50 in his previous two innings.

Captain Rashid Khan - the number-one ranked T20 international bowler in the world - was back to his best as he claimed 1-14 from his four overs last time out. He then hit two fours and three sixes in his unbeaten eight-ball knock of 27 to win Kabul the game. He now has 135 runs down the order at a strike rate of 210.93 - including one half-century - to prove he can be an all-rounder in this format.

While Khan has five wickets and Fareed Ahmad six, Wayne Parnell is their leading wicket taker, meanwhile, with seven from seven so far - albeit after some expensive bowling.

KZ Team Form

Kabul Zwanan won three of the first four matches, having set the tone with a three-wicket win against the Paktia Panthers on the opening night. Laurie Evans hit 79* from 39 balls to lead them to victory.

They suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of the second half of fixtures, as Luke Ronchi's 50 proved in vain in a 15-run loss to Nangahar Leopards chasing 182. That was followed by the high-scoring defeat to Balkh Legends - the Legends posting 244/6 before Hazratullah Zazai's six sixes in an over kick-started the reply. They eventually finished 21 runs short, however, with Zazai dismissed for 62 from 17 balls.Kabul bounced back by beating Kandahar Knights last time out, however. Chasing 152/5, Laurie Evans hit a patient 32 not out while Rashid Khan's heroics in the penultimate over helped their team to a four-wicket win.

Paktia Panthers Team News & Playing 11

PP Team News

Paktia Panthers have rotated their team in the last few matches, with Calum MacLeod back to hit a breezy 40 last time out. Shahid Afridi sat the game out, and the Panthers' selection dilemma would appear to be which of the two to play in the final group game - Camaeron Delport, Sikandar Raza and Isuru Udana appear to have three of the slots nailed down for the play-offs.

Seekkuge Prasanna also came into the team for his first appearance, but the Sri Lankan all-rounder scored one run and took 1-31 in an unspectacular performance.

PP Key Players

Mohammad Shahzad has hit more sixes than any batsman in the competition - four more than Hazratullah Zazi - on his way to three half-centuries and 281 runs in total. The Paktia captain goes into this game just six runs behind Zazai.

Calum MacLeod (40 from 33 balls) and Samullah Shenwari (65 from 43) were the top scorers last time out, however with a useful middle-order partnership. Sikandar Raza would normally be in there too, but he was rested after two half-centuries so far.

Paktia Panthers' other undoubted star man has been bowler Isuru Udana. He has 13 wickets so far - second in the overall list - after claiming 1-29 last time out.

Mohammad Shahzad's fine batting form in this tournament continued as he hit his third half-century in six matches with an unbeaten 78 from 43 balls last time out. Shahzad also had a knock of 42 in between, and consequently sits second behind only Hazratullah Zazai in the run-scoring charts.

Isuru Udana is the joint-top wicket taker, meanwhile, The Sri Lankan moved to 12 for the tournament when he claimed 2-14 from his four overs in the win against Nangarhar Leopards, while he claimed 3-19 and hit some valuable lower-order runs when the Panthers last faced Kandahar Knights. His wicket tally is all the more impressive when you consider he has done it in one less game than Sayed Shirzad, who sits two wickets ahead of him.

Ziaur Rahman's introduction to the attack has also been positive, meanwhile. He has taken nine wickets in his four matches but his 3-40 last time out including bowling the final over - in which he conceded 11 runs from the final five balls to lose the game.

PP Team Form

Paktia Panthers responded well to their opening-night defeat to Kabul Zwanan. Sikandar Raza and Mohammad Shahzad both scored half-centuries in a total of 218/4 but their bowlers could not defend it - losing by three wickets with five balls to spare. The Panthers then won their next three, however.

Totals of 184/8 and 204/4 proved too much for Nangarhar Leopards and Balkh Legends respectively, with Isuru Udana in the wickets. Udana then claimed 3-19 to dismiss Kandahar Knights for just 118 in reply to 127, of which Sikandar Raza had scored 51.

Paktia were all out for 106 in an 89-run defeat to Balkh Legends next up, which has seriously hit their net run rate, but bounced back by bowling Nangarhar Leopards out for 126 before Mohammad Shahzad's unbeaten 78 led them to a seven-wicket win. Last time out, however, 167/7 proved a couple of runs to short against Kandahar Knights, despite Samiullah Shenwari having hit 65 from 43 balls.
