As expected, Ireland showed little resistance in the first T20I and went down by 33 runs. In 50 over games, they were pretty decent but we were always sure that they are going to struggle in the T20Is as they lack players who can tonk big and play quickfire knocks. They are mostly dependent on Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie and once they are dismissed for not much, they will find it hard to compete in the game. We are not expecting any different results in the next game as well. Ireland’s only chance is if the bowlers can trigger a South African collapse and restricted them to a below-par score, say a 130.
For South Africa, it seems that nothing has changed from the West Indies tour. Once again, plenty of batsmen got starts but no one went on to get a big one. As a result, they were restricted to a par score. These 160 odd runs might help them win against Ireland but they are going to struggle against big teams for sure.

We are not expecting Ireland to make a lot of changes in the playing XI. Only if there is one, maybe Craig Young can get in but it’s very unlikely that Ireland will make any change. They already have their best XI on the park.
